 Gunung Jerai by Audrey118
Gunung Jerai is replete with history and legend. Tales abound of the infamous Raja Bersiong "the king with fangs" who once held court over the ancient kingdom of Langkasuka. Archeological digs revealed the existence of a water temple (Candi Telaga Sembilan) which many believe was the private pool of Raja Bersiong.
Apparently some high ranking British officers during the British empire had some bungalow houses perched atop the mountain.
There is the Sungei Teroi Forest Recreation Park halfway up the mountain, with its rare orchids and some animals.
A Museum of Forestry, at the top of the path leading to the recreation park, is of limited interest. And there is a hotel, Peranginan Gunung Jerai which has a restaurant as well as comfortable chalets. Leave a Comment
