We visited the Portuguese Eurasian community fishing village in Melaka at Ujong Pasir. Unfortunately, the shoreline was reclaimed for expansion of Melaka town.Still on festive occasions like Fiesta de Pedro (June 29) and Christmas , you will see the gatherings of Portuguese Eurasian with their traditonal costume, dances and music. Many Malaysians with last names like DeSouza, De Witt, have Portuguese Eurasian bloodline.Several famous local dishes have strong Portuguese influence.
