Walk along jonker street and observe some of the old Chinese shophouses. Some of them still have at the fron facade partially tiled walls. They are very pretty tiles, in the Straits people fashion. Becos of its antique value, some of the tiles have been pierced out and sold to collectors.
The picture is not of any antique value, but the tiles are equally pretty with our national flower (bunga raya - which mains highway flower..becos it was chosen as our national flowers as years ago it was indeed a popular flower grown along Malay villages, and now even in the city) Leave a Comment

Most Chinese (believe in Taoism faith) will use joss stick (stick of incense of the kind burned before a Chinese image, idols) in their prayer ritual.
Of course there are other mean of sacrifice besides the burning of incense, paper with gold sheets in the middle, fruits & flowers and many other sacrifices imaginable by Chinese. Leave a Comment

Houses in the Portuguese settlement are all light up during Christmas. Santas, reindeers, elf all turn up full force on the fences, roof tops and door ways of houses here. The traffic is reduced to a crawl on Christmas eve, everyone just wants to get in to get a piece of the action in the settlement area.
Apart from the Serani community, which is the descendant of Portuguese and Malay mix marriage, this place is also famous for it's food. The most popular food would be the Portuguese style baked fish. Which you can find as far as KL. Leave a Comment

Taoism faith on the other hand will be treated quite lightly by most Chinese community. It's mostly for the reasons of redeem personal guilt, seeking peace, seeking wealth & health.

Malaccan architecture is renowned for its roof and staircase style, much we still get to see in the buildings today.

We were in Melaka for the Vesak long weekend.
We didnt knew about the Vesak Day Parade until we saw some floats passing by.
