This place has been touted as one of the most beautiful buildings in Melaka. Little wonder why, when I was there at night, the shop house restaurant looked like a little beacon amongst the artery of lanes in Jonker Street. Backpackers are drawn to this place like moths and most can be seen nursing a beer on the sidewalk tables. Hmm, I'm willing to bet this is in the Lonely Planet.. Afternote: Muddybok have since confirmed my bet and mentioned that it is in the ubiquitous traveller's bible. Surprisingly, he took an almost similar shot to mine. Ah, sometimes great minds think alike;) Tip Update: It's cool to sit on the second floor of Geographers' on a Saturday Night and watch the weekend bazaar from there, with a tall cold glass of beer of course.
Strictly casual. If you can, grab a table on the sidewalk, nurse a "Tiger" beer (from S'pore) and people-watch at night. It's way too hot in the daytime for this.. Leave a Comment

Grilling cuttlefish, Pasar Malam, Melaka by bpacker Come every weekend, the narrow, twisted streets at Jonker closes to traffic and hawkers on pushcarts gather to sell all kinds of delicious street food and local items. In the meantime, the shops at Jonker Walk also bustles with life. You can hear strains of karaoke at the clan associations mingling with the sound of funeral rites performed just a couple of streets away. This is the heartbeat of Melaka and the very place you should be if you're here.. Where Jonker St or Jalan Hang Jebat Leave a Comment Theme: Other

The night market is not merely a place with a few hawkers selling food, toys and tidbits – it is an interesting place to explore or simply for a leisurely stroll. ringo classic (c) ukirsari by ukirsari The interior of this cafe is full with oldiest things. A truely vintage atmosphere. Like banner and logo of Coke, F&N and Tiger. The table made from old sewing machine 'Singer' [remind me of my Granny's :)]. Then the only singer, Ringo performing the songs of 80s and several of Rod Stewart's. He also playing keyboard and guitar by himself. And hearing his voice is sooooo cool. He can sing exactly as the real singers. When I ask about his ability, his answer is, "I learn by myself. Hear the song first then recorded it with my tape. If there's close to the real, it means .. 'Okay, I can sing this song for the guests'." And especially me, Ringo sang 'Too young to be married'. Terima kasih, Man! :)

It's Melaka answer to Bintang Walk in KL although on a slightly smaller scale. The place become lively at nite when most of the sidewalks cafe operating till the wee hours in the morning. Even though it is not as crowded as Bintang Walk, just hang out over here and watching people pass by should be interesting. On special occasions, there will be live band performing here. Night bazaar at Jonker Walk by yipsufen Jalan Hang Jebat or Jonker Walk will be closed at 6pm - 12 midnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to make way for a night bazaar. So be remember to remove your car by that time. Or else your car will be stucked there until midnight or you even might get a fine ticket. This street which is about 1km long becomes bustling with activities. Stalls are set up in front of shop houses, selling all kind of thngs, mainly souvenirs, knick-knacks, handicarfts, toys, wooden clogs, hawker food etc. If you are looking for some good quality stuff, walk in to the shops for bargain. Wooden clogs seem to be the local souvenir or specialty here. You may also want to try the local snacks like fried yam dice, dim sum, Nyonya dessert, popiah (spring roll with turnip filling), pau, etc. They are inexpensive. You can even find grilled cuttlefish here which is rare nowadays. Leave a Comment Theme: Family Spot

by Audrey118 This is along the jonj\ker street which in the night becomes a night market. We especially enjoy this becos it is such a leisurely walk. Soemtimes it gets a bit corwded with Singaporean tourist on the weekends but if you are here the week after the peak period such as the week after shcool starts, or week after a public holidays it is less crowded. You get to buy lots of nick nacks, some home made, some you wonder where they dug out from their old store to sell!!! Some homemade cookies etc are seen available. I saw these clogs for sale - only 10 ringgit - and bought them for my nieces - just for fun!!!
casual - even shorts is OK. you can have snacks from the streets. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

It is unbelievably different. Relaxing while drinking a thirst-quenching Caribbean Perrier Mocktail in a gorgeous garden. I can smell the roasted coffee and my buddy Espresso Segafredo is on its way. One thing I really love this place is the place. Very nicely done. To add its uniqueness, it is located by the river. You can choose to sit by the river and also in the garden. I chose the garden because of the green plants around me. The smooth Jazz music is playing and we are surrounded by attentive and friendly staffs who never forget to smile. The main dining area(historical building) is nice. Posters portraying Holland are on the wall. Tulips, The Hague, etc. One poster is very interesting as it shows the different coffee shops in Amsterdam. What captures me is 2 clocks that show both Malaysian and Holland local times. That is creative. Bathroom is absolutely clean. In terms of the food, My favorite food is Pepperoni Pizza and Beef Croquette. The pizza is so good and I can finish it up by myself. Only available in 1 size(12"). RM22 only(No tax though). It is so tasty.Just have to wait around 20 minutes but it is worth waiting.Cheesy and nice pan dough. The croquette is beautifully served on a plate with a bread. Very hot in the middle but very tasty. It is like a nugget but long(about 6 inches).I also had Cassava Fries as a starter and it different. Not oily and you should try this. Not many places offer this. My favorite drink is Caribbean Perrier mocktail. It is mixture of Grenadine at the bottom(red color), fresh orange juice and Perrier. Got a little cute umbrella with a hotel-standard garnish.Price wise,it is average. Mineral water RM2. Fresh fruit juice RM5.I forgot about the cheese cake that I had. I had Mississippi Mud cheese cake(RM8) and it is rewarding. Worth buying.
