There's also available traditional tri-cycle called rickshaw or becak in my lingo. Colorful with artificial flowers on top of the roof [hahahhaa, remind me with cart for wedding party something :)] and we can order the driver to play some music!!!! Truely loud sometimes. PS: Bok, who are these guys here? Have we ever introduce one to each other?? :D Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Have beca will travel by mansionion A popular mode of transport for the touristy area in Melaka, particularly the historical zone of Banda Hilir and its vicinity. It is a good alternative to enjoy Melaka in a slow and laid back manner rather than walking. The fare is based on hourly basis @ RM50.00 per hour (more or less, do bargain for lesser fare). Konsortium buses by SWFC_Fan I arrived in Melaka in December 2005 following a 5 hour bus journey from Singapore. I took a bus operated by a company called Konsortium, which left the Golden Mile Tower in Singapore at 8am. I purchased my ticket 2 days in advance and I initially attempted to purchase a ticket for the 7am bus, but it had already sold out - be sure to book your ticket in plenty of time! The journey of 5 hours included a lengthy wait (nearly 1 hour) in standing traffic at the Singapore customs point and a 30 minute stop off for refreshments at a food centre in Malaysia. The bus was quite luxurious, with loads of leg room and reclining seats (sleepers), making the long journey very comfortable. The bus company provides all passengers with a complimentary snack bag containing a bottle of mineral water, a piece of chocolate cake and a slice of coconut cake. The bus dropped me off at the new Express Bus station in Melaka, which is approximately 4km from the city centre. Note: if you have a guide book written pre-2005, the map of Melaka will show the Express Bus station as being located close to the city centre. However, this bus station has now been replaced by the new Express Bus station and you will need to take a (cheap) taxi from there to the city centre. The cost of the journey was S$20 (approx 8 GBP / 12 Euros). Leave a Comment

by yuet29 There are a lot of buses traveling from Melaka to Singapore. The ticket fare is Rm13.75. These bus can get full during weekend, especially Sunday when many Singaporean rushing back home after 2 days holiday in Melaka. So make sure to get your ticket early. The counter will usually tell you it takes around 3-4 hours to travel from Melaka to SIngapore. However my experience was, I took 2:30pm bus from Melaka and reached Singapore at around 8pm. It really depends on the jam. Alternatively, there are taxis travel from Melaka to Johor as well. The taxi stand is located in the same building but at the opposite side of the buses. Traffic in Melaka (cars, taxis and trishaws!) by SWFC_Fan Taxis (Teksi in Malay) can be hired very cheaply in Melaka. I arrived in Melaka at the Express Bus station, located 4km from the city centre, and therefore needed to catch a taxi as soon as I arrived. As soon as I got off the bus I was approached by a handful of accommodation touts and taxi drivers. I agreed a price of RM15 (approx 2.50 GBP / 3.75 Euros) for the 4km trip. My chosen taxi driver owned a rickety old car which spluttered along and made a strange grinding noise whenever it was in first gear - but it got me to where I wanted to be! As I hadn't obtained any Ringgits prior to leaving Singapore, the taxi driver was happy to drop me off at a bank with an ATM machine en-route. I left my luggage in the boot and trusted the driver not to drive away while I was gone - he didn't! (I had taken a mental note of the taxi number as well just in case he did - this is displayed clearly inside the taxi). The only other time I used a taxi in Melaka was for the return journey from my hotel to the Express Bus station a couple of days later to catch a bus to Kuala Lumpur. This time the journey was cheaper still, at just RM12. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home
