    Private Tour Vans/ AUV's

by machomikemd Written Jun 20, 2014

there are many tour companies offering day tours of Malacca from Kuala Lumpur and they can be by Big Tour Buses, Private Vans and Private AUV's. Big tour buses are usually cheaper and will coast around 220 to 240 RM if without lunch and 260 to 280 RM with lunch included. But you will be rush to each atttractions and you must go back to Kuala Lumpur by 3:00 pm sharp.

Private tour van tour will cost more at 320 RM or more per person (lunch not included) but the best deal here is that you can go around the attractions around malacca at your own pace and then you will just meet the driver at 3:00 pm for the ride back to Kuala Lumpur (it is flexible too, you can extend it to 1 hour extra (even 2 hours) at no extra cost, provided you call your driver to tell him of the 1 hour extenion you want and give him a nice tip (don't be stingy on calling the tour driver on roaming mode of your smartphone).

    Walking Around the Historic Sites

by machomikemd Written Jun 20, 2014

whatever tour you booked, whether a big bus tours, small van tours or private AUV/VAN Tours, these vehicles could not drop you to many attractions as the roads in old town are really small. either you would be dropped at the Start of Jonkers Walk or at the Stadhuys area or fronting the A Famosa Fortress Ruins and then you will start walking around (they would give you maps).

you would be walking around the historic sites around Malacca as the old streets are small and can only accomodate one lane (moreso around Jonker Street and the side streets around it) so you would really be walking a lot, and there are no roads going up the Saint Paul Hill so that you would be hiking a lot going to that area.

    Trishaws

by machomikemd Written Jun 20, 2014

Another Option of Goind Around the Historic Sites of Malacca are the historic Trishaws.

you can find a lot of them At the Stadhuys and around the Clock Tower, The Parking area in The Area of the Replica Palace of the Sultan of Malacca, in Jonkers Walk and around Jalan Kota. the trishaws offer 1 hour rides around the historic sites along Malacca and they give colorful commentary about these sites and the trishaws are daily decorated with flowers and boom boxes,

The price of a 1 hour ride are usually 40 RM, but can be negotiated in advance if you negotiate with the trishaw driver.

Another funny way to get around Melaka is by A Rickshaw. You are ridden around the main attractions in the city centre. I didn't use it but I thought it was one the pleasant way to get around.

Two options when hiring rickshaw drivers: Either try the untested rookie... (i.e. a middle aged white guy who has no idea where he is heading...)

    Get on the Bus...

The easiest way to get here is to take a aircon express bus from Puduraya Station in KL.

The express bus station in Melaka is about half a kilometer north of the historic city centre.

The best thing about Malacca is that the most of its touristy sites are nearby. So, stay somewhere central in town and WALK. :-)

How's this for an authentic way of getting around Melaka? Bullock cart rides can be found just outside the Museum of Aborigines on the Ayer Keroh Road, opposite the zoo.
