Serkam Malay seaside village is a VERY MUSLIMS-MALAY village, it means you are not coming here expecting a seaside of full of worldwide tourists. You come here to see some of the extremely slow rhythms in the way human live, over here is where things are nicely arranged by the government specially for the Muslims-Malay villagers.
You can see slow moving villagers relaxing at the seaside, they sit and do nothing, life goes on. Youngsters riding mini motorbike zooming around searching for excitement, learn smoking, learn to slow down their life, and so on.
Religion is everything.
First time visitors can go to the fishing village, you can see signboards of big sizes built nicely by government (written in Malay, no English), directions are sometimes not clear, trust your own common sense. Spicy fried fish restaurants are all located right at the seaside, do not go inland.
You go in, look for fishes, prawns, squids etc that are placed nicely inside the plastic basket, pick what you want and tell the guy what cooking style you want, there is a menu together that you can choose. Price is budget, much less than Starbucks.
