Easy regular bus connection

by SLLiew

You can take one of the regular bus service from the north - Kuala Lumpur (Pudu Bus Station) or from the south - Johor Bahru (Larkin Bus Staion) or directly from Singapore. There is a north-south highway and so the journey is smooth. Only in Kuala Lumpur area, expect that there will be a half hour or so traffic jam during rush hours.Melaka has a modern impressive bus station just at the outskirt of town. There are two cylindrical terminals. One terminal is for domestic bus and the other for long distance bus. You can take bus 17 to downtown Melaka, it will stop at Stadhuys to get off for Chinatown. Or you can take a taxi.

Fixed Price Taxis

by matjung

In Negeri Melaka, Melaka City and Ayer Keroh I was travelling mostly by taxi. The taxis in Melaka City have a fixed price system. From the central bus stop to your hotel its to 90% always 15 ringgit.Within Melaka City its always 10 ringgit. This may not sound much to you, but if the taxis were metered the fare would only be 4 or 5 ringgit. From Melaka City to Ayer Keroh its about 20 or 25 ringgit. You can also rent taxis by hour, this costs about 25 or 30 ringgit depending on how many hours you need the car.A one day trip - about 12 hours - was about 250 ringgit.Travelling by taxi is the most convenient way to explore Negeri Melaka.

Take a ride in trishaw around town

by SLLiew

At the Stadhuys, there are colorful trishaws with flowers waiting to service tourists who would like a ride around town, to nearby tourist destinations or go up to the Makota Shopping Complex. It is fun and beats walking if your legs are a bit tired.Important to negotiate for a price depending on where you are going and for how long. Try out your bargain skills, at least you are helping the local economy and having fun at same time. I found them to be tourist friendly and not too pushy.
