The Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary is located about 60km from Bentong town and 120km from Kuala Lumpur... You have to exit at Lanchang Interchange (exit 816) on the East Coast Expressway, where it is short drive away...
The sanctuary was set up by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks in 1989 for translocating elephants displaced by development and orphaned baby elephants whose mothers had been killed by poachers or died in accidents. Admission is free and visitors can made donations that will go towards the upkeep of the animals... Registration is required and visitors wishing to take part in activities such as riding or bathing the elephants will be given a B sticker... Casual visitors will be given an A Sticker...
Elephant activities begin from 2.00pm when the elephants are washed... This is followed by riding the elephants and then taken for a ride to the stream for bathing...
The sanctuary has a small elephant museum on the work of the sanctuary staff and a souvenir shop as well... It also have a small food stall to cater for those who need some simple food and drinks...
The sanctuary is opened daily from 8.00am to 4.30pm but the best time to visit is to try and time your arrival to coincide with the activities that starts at 2.00pm...

The Hutan Lipur Lentang (or Lentang Recreation Park) is run by the Forestry Department... Located off the KLumpur-Karak Highway, it is about 40km or 45 mins drive from KLumpur and about 1km from the exit to Berjaya Hills towards Bentong...
There are lots of parking spaces near the entrance and along road side by the river... There are toilet and changing facilities as well as a surau for prayers... Several hawker stalls are located for food and drinks... There are also covered dining areas with BBQ pits... There are plenty of spots for swimming, picnics, walking for exercise, outdoor photography and wildlife watching... There is also a hanging bridge across the river where there are also camping areas for those who want to camp overnight...
The park is very popular during the weekends and public holidays as it is easily accessible from the highways...

About 60km from Bentong town is DeerLand... You should exit (Exit 816) at Lanchang and turn right after the toll plaza until you come to the T-junction... The right road leads to the DeerLand and the left leads to Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary...
DeerLand is a private mini zoo of sort... Owner and caretaker is Abdullah Mahmud... Although the main attractions there is the deer, the park also houses a motley of animals, comprising pheasants, ostriches, quails, peacocks, rabbits, a monkey, pythons and five mousedeer. The star of the park is Muda the sun bear... The mini-zoo is clean and the animals are well cared for and tame, yo can even feed the deers... A small fee is charged to offset its upkeep now. The park opens daily from 10.30am to 5.30pm. It is closed on Fridays...
