Bring an Umbrella to Fraser's Hill

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: As amazing as this sounds, there isn't a single shop that sells an umbrella in Fraser's Hill and it rains here once every 2 days. The only umbrella that I found here were ornamental paper umbrellas used for decoration. Duh. They might as well sell cocktail umbrellas. Make sure you bring your own foldable umbrella or a poncho.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Bring lots of medicated oil (Axe Brand, available in provision shops) for those leeches. Coat the oil lovingly on those leeches when you see them.

Photo Equipment: If you're into birding, you'll need to bring a teleconverter or telephoto lens. I used a teleconverter ( DMW-LTZ10 ) , Panasonic together with my Panasonic FZ20. It boosted the focal distance by 1.5X, up to 648 mm ( the original focal length has a max of 432 mm). My friend, Mithilesh used a Raynox telephoto lens with his FZ30 and the focal distance was boosted to 2x. While the focal length was longer, the lens did not co-operate at certain times and it was a tad frustrating using it.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Don't bet on this. You're better off buying your camping gear before coming here. Bring boots with a good rubber sole, it'll come in handy when it rains. Columbia Boots are a good bet against terrible terrain.
