    Jungle Hiking in Cameron Highlands

    by K2NG Updated May 21, 2012
    Cameron Highland Map

Favorite thing: There are at least 9 jungle paths which you can try out. Some paths are not clearly marked and should be done with a guide. Although some of the paths are not meant to be challenging, there are others that can be tough. PATH 4 to Parits Falls is very easy while PATH 2 which is meant to be easy turned out to be rather punishing. I had not been exercising for last few years and that route took a heavy toll on my body. Furthermore, to find the entrance to PATH 2 was not easy. I did not expect the entrance to be up behind SAM POH Temple. I skirted around SAM POH temple and hit a fork road, which I unfortunately tried both and ended up in some vegetable plots. Finally on my third try did I hit the correct entrance. By then my water bottle was already half empty. The path was narrow and slippery in some parts. The wet dried leaves made every step more dangerous than ever. And the muddy soil slowed down the climb. The terrain inside was undulating, more tough than I expected. For the unprepared, please do some physical training before the hike.
