    Bus to Cameron Highlands

    by bungi333 Written Sep 18, 2010

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We took a cab from KLIA to Puduraya Bus Station, and took a bus to Tana Rata bus station in Cameron Highlands. It took us about 5 to 6 hours to get there.

There are a number of counters in the bus station. If you ask around they will direct you to the right counters for the buses that leave to CH.

I think there are buses from Puduraya to CH every hour or so. It shouldn't cost more than RM 40.

Remember to book your return ticket as soon as you get there. Just to be on the safer side.

    Getting There

by keeweechic Updated Jun 11, 2003

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

By Air : Major airlines fly to Kuala Lumpur International Airport and from Kuala Lumpur, you can take a taxi or the Ekpress Nasional scheduled bus service that leaves the Pudu Raya Bus Terminal at 8.30 am.

By Car : Go via the quickest route, the North-South Expressway, Exit 132 out-turning in near the town of Tapah. Just after the toll booth, at the 'T' junction, turn left. From Tapah you will hit the long winding road (about 60km) to Cameron Highlands. Travel up this scenic road for approx. 1 hour and you would reach the first of the three main towns of the Cameron Highlands - RINGLET. Drive through the town.

Van from Penang to Cameron Highlands

    by pres_16 Updated Mar 23, 2012

This trip is offered by the guesthouse I have stayed in Penang, the Old Penang Guesthouse. Fare rate is higher compared to the bus rates, but the trip via van is faster, saves time and gives you more time in Camerons specially if you are to stay only in a day or two. I paid 45rm for this trip.

Transport from Tanah Rata to Brinchang

    by K2NG Updated May 21, 2012
    Cameron Highland - Tanah Rata

The bus between Tanah Rata and Brinchang is hourly , ie. 1.30pm , 2.30pm, 3.30pm etc... Price per trip per person is RM$1.50. The last bus from Tanah Rata to Brinchang is 6.30pm while the last bus back from Brinchang is between 7.30pm to 7.45pm. However,, the bus from Brinchang to Tanah Rata can be unreliable in timing. The main Taxi stand, which is also the bus stop, offers Taxi ride to Tanah Rata charging at RM$6 per trip. If you happen to see passengers sitting around waiting for the same bus, you can try to talk to them and see if they mind sharing Taxi with you. It can be cheaper and cut down on waiting time.

    Transfer to the East Coast

by mansionion Written Apr 13, 2008

There's no direct public transport from Cameron Highlands to the East Coats (eg Kota Baharu). However, some travel agents in Cameron Highland can arrange for private van transfer from there to Kota Baharu for journey to Perhentian islands. You may enquire on this arrangement once you arrive in Cameron Highlands, particularly at Tanah Rata bus station.

  • not easy to get cabs

by vonvonz Written May 1, 2006

it doesn't seems to us that getting a taxi to get around is easy, most of the time there are people in the taxi and unless arrange with the cab serivce in the lobby at equatorial there were be much cabs coming into the resort.

maybe there's some other way to get cabs that we dont know. :-\

we relay on the shutter bus service instead.

    Get your own transport

by moomoos Written Dec 4, 2002

There are not many taxis lurking around. It's best to go up to Camerons with your own vehicle. Distance between different sight-seeing spots are not in the leisure walking range unless you're a veteran marathon man. Besides it is not safe walking on the winding road as there are no proper pedestrain pathways outside the little towns of Brinchang & Tanah Rata.

    Classic travel in classic Mercedes.

We never did actually ride on one of these taxis, so we do not know the average fare. But must be quite cheap..
