After checking out many reviews and raves about this so called restaurant, my family delegation of 7 adults and 5 kids decided to try it out.. Firstly driving into the car park, we thought we were driving into a sleazy red light area, then we found our table and ordered our food...to our surprise the crabs were crazy expensive at RM50/kg...so we decided on chicken, fish, calamari, veg, tomyam(tasted like water n curry powder..with no squid n chicken..just prawns). The plates smelled of cockroaches...
After our meal, we got the biggest bombshell of the evening ..the whooping bill of RM 308.00, mind you this is without crabs n prawns...what irks me is that we decided on this place based on the many reviews of individuals..have these individuals ever tasted real food to actually write reviews..I mean don't write reviews if u haven't tried proper food..like new Paris pj, restaurant 88 Aman Syria PJ...etc..
Favorite Dish: Nothing was that good to shout about....

The Duyong restaurant is errected on stilts at the Western end of the beach. It's a great place to sit and enjoy good food and a cold drink.
I've had fried rice (ok, the vegetarian choice is very limited) and a beer. Prices are very reasonable and service good.

It's a very plain looking restaurant...so don't expect any fancy interior...but that's what they say "never judge a book by its cover".
I had really nice ikan bakar n other seafood here. You can get get fresh fishes, crabs, squids, prawns n other seafood with very reasonable price.
The thing is you have to be quick. The place is a big hit at night.
Favorite Dish: I love its "sotong goreng tepung"...crunchy on the outside but very soft inside served with a very tasty sweet n spicy dipping.

This restaurant is situated outside of the Cherating area. However, a quick drive will lead you into Terengganu and into the Kemaman area. Should you be on the look out for Chinese food, this is an option. Drive time is approximately 20 or 30 mins from memory. Please check with the locals as I forget.
In Chukai, drive around and look for this restaurant which is opposite the public car park with a nice view of the bay (I think you could call it a bay or inlet ?).
As I'm allergic to shellfish - I had the fish and other vegetables. Saw many people enjoying their stuffed crabs and deduced that it must be good!

(Got it off their tissue pack!)
The restaurant must be popular (looking at other VT reviews) and there were many people there at lunch time with hardly any tables left. Could have possibly resulted due to the fact that it was a public holiday that we were there.

Ask for their specialty. Choose from the variety of fresh fish and other sea catches. The ikan (fish) bakar lived up to the expectations from other reviews given. I'd give it a thumbs up.
If you see the road to club med and the turtle sanctuary on your right, travel for approximately 50 - 100 meters and the restaurant is on your left. Ample parking is available.
