Warong Awang Ikan Bakar: Awesome Seafood

by Arfah Updated May 25, 2008 273 reviews

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

It's a very plain looking restaurant...so don't expect any fancy interior...but that's what they say "never judge a book by its cover".

I had really nice ikan bakar n other seafood here. You can get get fresh fishes, crabs, squids, prawns n other seafood with very reasonable price.

The thing is you have to be quick. The place is a big hit at night.

Favorite Dish: I love its "sotong goreng tepung"...crunchy on the outside but very soft inside served with a very tasty sweet n spicy dipping.

    Duyong Restaurant: Great views

    by bijo69 Written Apr 13, 2009 939 reviews

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Duyong restaurant is errected on stilts at the Western end of the beach. It's a great place to sit and enjoy good food and a cold drink.
I've had fried rice (ok, the vegetarian choice is very limited) and a beer. Prices are very reasonable and service good.

Typical basic decor of coffe shop found in Singapore n Malysia in the sixties.Established in 1940,the owner has handed over to the second generation but still sits there every day to observe. It's a favourite haunt of locals as well as out of towners for breakfast n tea breaks

Favorite Dish: The cofffe is freshly brewed and the toast spread with butter or kaya (local coconut jam)is simply delicious!

Warung Awang Ikan Bakar: Ikan Bakar

by wdominic Written Sep 4, 2007 11 reviews

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Ask for their specialty. Choose from the variety of fresh fish and other sea catches. The ikan (fish) bakar lived up to the expectations from other reviews given. I'd give it a thumbs up.

If you see the road to club med and the turtle sanctuary on your right, travel for approximately 50 - 100 meters and the restaurant is on your left. Ample parking is available.

Favorite Dish: The Ikan Bakar Dish (Get It Made Fresh)

Restoran Tong Juan: Get Taxed - Go To Chukai (Just Kidding).

by wdominic Written Sep 10, 2007 11 reviews

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This restaurant is situated outside of the Cherating area. However, a quick drive will lead you into Terengganu and into the Kemaman area. Should you be on the look out for Chinese food, this is an option.

In Chukai, drive around and look for this restaurant which is opposite the public car park with a nice view of the bay (I think you could call it a bay or inlet ?).

As I'm allergic to shellfish - I had the fish and other vegetables. Saw many people enjoying their stuffed crabs and deduced that it must be good!

The restaurant must be popular (looking at other VT reviews) and there were many people there at lunch time with hardly any tables left. Could have possibly resulted due to the fact that it was a public holiday that we were there.

This restaurant is situated at the Pantai Beserah (Beserah Beach) about 15 km from Cherating. The waiters and waitresses here are friendly. You can ask them about any dish from the menu and they will provide you enough information so that you will get what you want.

You can even choose the fish from the aquarium. Although this is a chinese restaurant, but they provide Halal food. Most of local people also come here to enjoy the food.

While waiting for your food, you can enjoy the view and breeze of Beserah Beach.

Favorite Dish: Stuffed-crab - This is the specialty of this restaurant.
    Butter-prawn - Tasty and fresh.
