  • Grilled fish (ikan bakar) - Kuantan
    Grilled fish (ikan bakar)

This is a Malay seafood restaurant where you can savour some of the popular local delights, like grilled fish (ikan bakar), Tom Yam Soup (spicy & sour soup). Seafood include prawns, fishes, squids, crabs, sea shells, etc. You can order the food to the cooking-style that you preferred.

However, their signature dish must be the spicy Tom Yam soup. It is served in a large portion and generous in ingredients like fish, chicken meat, squids & prawns. The price is only RM5 per bowl. Be prepared to try this fiery soup.

If you would like to taste the grilled fish wrapped in banana leaf, please proceed to the counter to select the type of fish that you like. The staff there will help you to weigh the fish and quote you the price. Ask for the various cooking method to suite your taste.

Along right hand side of the road, you can see many Malay restaurants offering grilled fish or seafood. As a general rule, remember to ask for the price per 100g of fish / seafood & bargain before they are put on the grill.

    Little Vietnam: Great Tom Yum!!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Little Vietnam is a newly opened restaurant in Kuantan. The owner comes from Melbourne, Australia and has brought a touch of class to this restaurant. It is stylishly decorated and a lovely atmosphere. The food is sensational, and although not as cheap as the street vendors, it was still very affordable.

The Tom Yum soup was excellent. I went back about 3 times it was that good. The curry chicken with vermicilli was also great. The fruit slushies were also a big hit, especially since us Aussies were sweltering in the Malaysian heat,

Alif's is extremely popular with local's and visitors alike. At all hours of the day, the place is completely full. Including at 4am when you are coming home from a night at local bars. It has a large outside area so you can eat on the street with scrawny cats walking around your ankles. It is certainly an experience and I rarely spent a day in Kauntan that I didn't eat a meal at Alif's. It is also extremely good value. A meal of curry and roti can cost less than US$0.50.

Roti and fish head curry. Very tasty!!

    Restorant Pattaya: Restorant Pattaya
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • This is a seafood restaurant and its located at the beach front so the food is bound to be expensive. If you want to order food like fish and seafood check out the menu. If it say seasonal check out how much it cost for 100 gram of the fish or seafood. Or else you will be paying a bomb for your meal.

  • There is a drive thru Mc Donald at the beach area and its very popular amongs local to sit and eat at the beach area. Its open 24 hours so if you feel hungry after a night out you can grab a burger here.

I like the ambience as it look like you are in a green forest with all the trees here and you can enjoy your meal outdoor with the cool breeze from the sea.
