The steam red fish is fresh and delicious

For travellers who first arrive in Kuantan, to locate a place of eating beside fast food is not easy. We made a few turns and finally decided to give this restaurant our 1st restaurant eating attempt. No regret, so we recommand it on VT. It is an air-conditioned and clean restaurant run by a family. The menu offer many type of dishes and price is clearly stated.

Favorite Dish: The restaurant offer Chinese and Western cook. I shall visit them again my next trip to Kuantan.

My steak & wine at Coals

Coals is one of the restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Kuantan with a menu serving steaks, lamb chops, lobsters and other seafood items with unlimited salads. Its location by the beach lends a romantic and relaxing atmosphere for diners.

My dinner of steak and wine was satisfactory but didn't wow me probably because I was dining alone. Together with the main dish, I also enjoyed unlimited grilled vegetables and salads. However, it was nice to just dine and as the sun came down.

    Restorant Pattaya

This is a seafood restaurant and its located at the beach front so the food is bound to be expensive. If you want to order food like fish and seafood check out the menu. If it say seasonal check out how much it cost for 100 gram of the fish or seafood. Or else you will be paying a bomb for your meal.

  • Pak Su Seafood

by mrsphang Written Mar 20, 2009

The Pak Su seafood claimed to be the Best seafood in Kuantan town. Located very near to Swiss Garden Resort and next to a beach side. We reach quite early for dinner time thus the restaurant is not crowded.
Not too hygenic, a lot of flies sharing our food during our dine. And i suspected the food is not clean too. My husband got diarrhea for a whole night after the food.
    Food price is reasonable.

Planet Seafood: Don't miss their ikan bakar (grill stingray)!

    by fraulein2008 Updated Nov 11, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Thanks to a fellow virtual tourist who recommended this place. This place is a superb place for local Malay food. It's a clean wooden hut by the roadside with bling-bling colorful lights hanging around it.

Favorite Dish: The grill stingray is my favourite! It was very spicy, but taste really fresh and good. The 'sambal' (chillies) on top of it, blended with lemon grass really add up to its smell and taste.

I will definitely return here to taste it again, if I ever have the chance to be in Kuantan.

There are many stalls along this stretch of road along the river... It is brightly lit at night with all type and colour of lights making it a glittering of sort...

Favorite Dish: The food is purely malay and of course is halal... There are the normal ikan bakar, tom yam, fried chicken (or various style), satay stalls etc...

However, patrons are warned that the food is not cheap by Kuantan or Malaysian standards... Maybe its fame has brought the high food price here...

  • McDonald's outlet: Remember to vist McDonald's outlet

There is a McDonald's outlet located at Teluk Chempedak beach. It is only 5 minutes drive from city centre. The ambience of McDonald's outlet is very nice. But the disadvantage is, the outdoor seating is not suitable when it is a rainy day.

The strategic location of McDonald's outlet is convenience for customers who visit to the beach. There is a five star hotel called Hyatt Regency Kuantan. It is set on the beachfront and near the outlet. The tourists who stay at the hotel are spoilt for choices.

What amazes me is the price of the food here. It is very cheap. We had ikan pari bakar (stingray), udang masak sambal (chilli prawns), tomyam seafood, and chap chye belacan (vegetables) and it only costs us RM44.50. That is less than $20 dollar.
