Natural Batik Village: The Place to Shop in Kuantan!

    Hand painting the fabric

My favorite thing about this stop was actually the toilet! :D It had a traditional western toilet AND toilet paper and it was very nice and clean. This was fabulous, as we had stopped earlier at the public toilets, which were all those low in-ground ones and of course no toilet paper, so it is always a good idea to take a bit with you!

But seriously, the shop was a nice little stop. In the back, you can watch the people hand-painting the batik fabric. It is very lovely... and the shop is very large and a good place to pick up a few souvenirs.

What to buy: Their specialty is batik fabric, which you can buy just as fabric or in a few items of clothing. They also have a wide variety of other clothing (I got a cute skirt) and the front of the shop is full of other random souvenirs. There are also two other shops right in the same complex with lots of carved wooden souvenirs and things. We did think that many of the souvenirs were the same as ones we saw in Bangkok, so look for something unique.

What to pay: I paid AU$17 (US$12) for my cute skirt. There was a wide variety of items with a wide range of prices, but the souvenirs were similarly priced to other places we had seen.

    Kiah Kee Dried Seafood

This shop is not so popular among the tourists to Kuantan. As such, the prices are slightly cheaper and can be bargained depends on volume of purchase.

This shop is very near to Kuantan air force base. Hence, while shopping, you might catch a glimpse of some military aircrafts landing or take off if you are lucky enough.

    Berjaya Kuantan Megamall

This is the only larger shopping mall in Kuantan where you can find some brand names and famous fast food outlets. There is nothing much to see here. However, it's certainly a convenient place for tourist to buy some necessities. Famous shops like KFC, McDonald's, Pizza Hut & Guardian are all located here.

Other shopping mall is the Kuantan Parade.
