  • Pak Su - Definitely a Tourist Trap!

    by ocy65 Written Oct 5, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

As I was new to Kuantan, I saw Pak Su while driving from Swiss Garden to the town and decided to give it a try. Immediately, when we sat down, the waitress came and started to take our orders. We wanted crabs but she said didn't have. And started to recommend stuff crab instead and also kept on pushing for their signature seafood claypot dish. We took her recommendations and to our disappointment, the stuff crabs were 'mickey mouse' size and the claypot dish came in a cold plate! We insisted that we ordered a claypot dish and she took back into a kitchen and pour the dish into a claypot and voila! we got our claypot dish! This was the most ridiculous restaurant in Kuantan and the service was terrible. The bill came out to be much higher than expected especially due to the silly signature dish. We left feeling cheated by the restaurant and definitely will not recommend anyone to visit them.

    Unique Suggestions: Don't go there!

Fun Alternatives: Even Mc Donalds are better!

Pak Su Restaurant - certainly NOT nice!

    by fraulein2008 Written Oct 20, 2008

Pak Su Restaurant offers food that are very much overpriced and they doesn't taste good at all. They put 'RM32 per kg' tag at their aquarium containing big succulent live crabs. But when you ordered for them, they turned out even smaller than my fist! When we confronted the waiter, he said that the price tag was put at the wrong place! Food are bland and taste like they were cooked by some amateur cook.

Unique Suggestions: The best advice? DON'T eat there! But if you have to, ask for a menu to survey the price first. Skip the luxury food like crabs, fish, prawns and just order fried rice/noodles just to fill up your stomach.

Fun Alternatives: Good food are hard to find during daytime, so why not settle at hotels that offer cheaper or about the same price? One good suggestion : Chinese Restaurant in Swiss Garden Kuantan.

Lobster- check out the price for 100 grams

When you are at seafood restaurant, you have to check the menu first before ordering your seafood.

Unique Suggestions: Most food have a price list on the menu but when they put seasonal be sure to ask how much the item cost.

Go for local lobster its much cheaper then the Australian, Canadian or Maine lobsters. Crab and prawn are pricy but its still much cheaper then lobsters.

Fun Alternatives: If you are ordering fish ask for fish fillet instead of a whole fish which will cost more. Do remember to ask for small portions if there is only two or four person.
