Beserah is a fishing village and is well-known for salted fish. But what many people do not know is a very unique practice of the Beserah fishermen: they employ water buffaloes to transport fish from the boats to the processing area.
I was waiting for other trucks to cross the pit and it may take a good 20 mins to an hour for everyone to cross any given obstacle like this. It is all depending on how many trucks & worst still if there are many newbies in the group.Anyway, we have plenty of time (and beer) and the whole journey will normally take about 2-3 days.
We were camping next to Sungai Rompin for taking bath and water supply reasons. When driving along the new East Coast Highway to Kuala Terengganu or Kuantan, you may just be tempted to nod off to sleep (because the drive is so smooth). Therefore, please don't chance it. Give yourself a break and take a rest at the Maran Rest Area.The toilets are clean and has good ventilation (through the openings near the roof) - therefore there is practically no stinky smell. There are also showers, a surau for prayers and a baby change area.Apart from that, if you need some fueling up, you can also buy snacks, cut fresh fruit, tid bits and drinks here. However, there are no real food stalls.
