During my stay on Tioman island i usually ended up down at the Tioman Cabana Beach Bar by the end of the day for a few beers and some cheerful company.
The bar is youe typical little wooden shack on the beach with cheap beer, good laid back music and a bohemian atmosphere.
As Tioman is an island where a lot of people go to dive, you should expect a lot of people there talking about that.
Staff was really cool and laid back and i felt very welcome there and after having been there once i never really went anywhere else when i wanted to go for a beer.
The place is absolutely not fancy and i just love that.
If you like reggae, sand between your toes and cheap beer like i do, then this is your place.
Dress Code: You should take your shoes off before entering the bar.
That is if you wear any of course.
I have traveled all over Tioman, and found the most amazing bar on any beach I have ever been to. Bar Ruma or Rooma is located in Genting, a 15 minute walk north of the jetty down a nice paved and well lit path. It is directly on the beach and is impossible to miss. It has a gorgeous sand patio under a natural tree awning,'hammocks,
Swings, a swinging picnic table, and many other hand made unique pieces of furniture and art.'unlike many other beach bars,'this place has unmistakable style and atmosphere. The owners are a super friendly young couple that speak many languages, and play super chill island music all night.'i think they also rent a small beachfront room for very cheap. My two nights at this bar were hands down the best time in Tioman.'
Dress Code: Whatever you want- you are on an island
We took a wander up the beach one evening and found the locals at the beach bar.
I have seen pix of beautiful bars here on vt right on the beach and now I found one!! :o) This was the best place!! :o)
Paya Beach Resort Bar is a nice place to chill with a beer or coctail (forget drinking wine on Tioman - the heat affects it and it goes to vinegar).
I wanted to sing Kareoke and we asked about it but there mustn't have been enough people or something because they didn't have it even though it is advertised as part of the activities.
Oh well, we still had plent to do for entertainment :o)
I knew when we arrived on the western side of the island that we would experience some great sunsets! ..... They weren't just great.....they were awesome!!
There was nothing better than sitting at the Resort Bar right on the beach, sipping a coctail and viewing this!! :o)
Arn't holidays wonderful! :o)
In the evening, Stieven (the resort owner) had arranged for a Barbeque dinner on the Juara Beach, right in front of the resort. He barbequed snapper fishes, jumbo prawns, chicken legs, cuttle fish and crabs. They were absolutely delicious. The dinner spread was mouthwatering and the seafood was absolutely fresh. Steiven said the fishes were netted in the late afternoon by his men from the South China Sea. There was no reason not to believe him.
Afterr the dinner, the resort helpers also held a bonfire on the beach. We just sat around the bonfire and danced all night. The only thing that was missing moonlit night.
Dress Code: Informals. Just to take are that you are not bitten by the sandflies
Peaceful during the night. You can count stars on the sky and watching full moon beside listening to the ocean breeze.
Around here, you may check out the place where you can listen to the local band perform or even you can go for kareoke or maybe you just want to relax at the restaurant. Up to you!
Overall, nightlife here completely peace.
Hi all, I dive every now and then in Tioman, and stay in Kampung Tekek . Recently there is a new bar along the seafront - Safety Stop Cafe and Bar. It's great after a day of diving to just chill out and watch the sea while sipping a beer! Friendly bartender there.
Dress Code: Just be comfortable!
This is what I always do...everynight I was there. Infact..this is what others do as well.
You just walk along the jetty..enjoying the cool night breeze while listening to music made by waves...look down to the water... there're plenty of fishes there...walk again... till you come to end of the jetty..n then walk back...or you can just seat at any of the benches placed at the jetty while reading.. chatting...or enjoying the night in Salang...
You'll find some people fishing there. Well, according to the local people it's illegal to fish there but if the Marine Police is not around...you'll be safe...I think...
Dress Code: It can get pretty cold at night...especially when the wind's blowing hard...so bring along some thick clothes...
From 3 or 4 pubs in 2000, kampong salang is now down to just 1, RM 5 for a can of beer-tiger, carls, carlsberg.
Dart board available, satellite tv, music varies from rock to pop to dance music.
Dress Code: very casual, they won't mind even if you come topless, for man that is, hey, it's the beach we're at.
There is not alot of entertainment on this island at night. In Kampung Genting, there is a karaoke pub, for the price of a drink (RM10), you can stay there until they close at 10p.m. If you don't like to sing, you can always watch the star twinkle in the night sky. It is very beautiful. :)
Not really too much to do in the evening, no clubs to go to. Might be something in the expensive resort.
All the restaurants sell drink and you can sit drink, enjoy the atmosphere and chat to people and then take a walk along the beach in the moonlight
Dress Code: anything
We sat at jetty after dinner.
The sea breeze is very cooling.
There're peoples who's fishing there as well... though they don't seem to caught any fishes... :)
It gets unpleasant when twenty peoples gather here...everybody come here after dinner...
We then just sit on the beach, which is just few meter away from our chalet. It is wider, and more quiet than jetty now...though we do not know stars, but we enjoy seeing them twinkling in the sky. That a very relaxing "night life" here...
There's a karaoke (cafe, or in exact, "kopi-tiam") here at Kampung Genting (Tioman), but no body's there...I believe that it is an "antic" karaoke, still in operating in VCR - tape (black), manual select/changing song...I would rather spend my time on the beach.
I understand that Salang Beach (north tip of Tioman) is very happening at night. If you like "clubbing", i suggest you to choose accomodations on Salang Beach.
Dress Code: T-shirt, short pant ang thongs everywhere / anywhere on the island.

Nightlife is Tioman is pretty boring actually. In Salang Beach, there is only a few pubs for drkinking and throwing darts. If you're lucky, you can find an internet cafe in your beach. There's one in Salang Beach.
The prefect thing to do at night in Tioman:
Since you are bringing children along with you to Tioman, it wouldn't be very wise to leave your kids in your resort and coming out to have fun in the pubs right..?
Maybe you can walk down the row of shops and buy some soveniors for relatives back home. Or I suppose is to chat with your family members under the stars. Catch up, bonding...
Couples, this is absoutely the best thing you can do. Since I don't think you will have wine with you, why not pack some snacks and a couple of beers, take a picnic mat with you, and head down to the beach.
Sea breeze, darkness, crash of the sea waves and just the two of you. Enjoy the peace.
Just look out for bugs and remember to lock your door in your resort.
Dress Code: Absolutely no dress code in Tioman.
