Dive Bag, Regulator, BC, Fins, Mask & Snorkel. Most dive centres rent these equipments, but you may not get used to the equipments in shortest possible time. To avoid panic or disappointment, it's always good to dive with your own equipments.
Dive suit (either Half or Full suit), Dive computer (Optional), Booties (for non-full foot fins) For ladies, you may want to bring bikinis, especially during the lunch & tea breaks.
Sun Block/Tan
Camera with underwater Housing
The picture (Force Fin) attached is one of the best fins i ever used. It's short & flex well under water. By far the most energy saving kind of fins. When you're experiencing current, then you will know what I'm talking about. Force Fins also allow diver to move forwards because it's short & the fin is concave upwards. Therefore it does not restrict diver movement especially space is always a constraint on any dive boat. Leave a Comment |
Sun Block can be quite important to prevent severe burn. Guys will probably opt for lower SPF, but I heard of some girls use SPF 150 Sun Block!! Get one from your nearest pharmacy outlet. Sport Block can be ideal since they are non-greasy & water-resistant. Leave a Comment |
You'll find yourself most at ease with bikinis, wet gears, some wrap around. Don’t worry about sands between your toes or your butt crack. Just shake them off. We guys like to strip our dive suit down to waist level & only take our shower after dinner & some beers. Leave a Comment |
Booties to prevent cuts when you are walking at the beach during low tide.
Light clothings. Preferably singlets, shorts & slippers.
It's good to bring your own toiletries because the resort only provides soap but you can buy them from the mini-marts if you forget to bring.
Bring your underwater camera or housing if you have one. If not, you can either buy from the main land or the mini-marts there for some nice underwater shots.
Not necessary because camping is out of the question if you are staying in the resort. Beach chairs & towels are easily available.
Sun-block or sun-tan lotion will come in handy but it can be purchased at the mini-marts. Leave a Comment |

A basic first aid kit (in case for cuts from reefs) Mosquito repellants, Skin oil (Coconut oil/Mustard oil or any oil that can be applied to skin). Sandflies, which are abundant in Tioman Islands are allergic to these oils and keep away from it. Don’t forget that 90 minutes of ferry ride is sufficient to induce emesis in big time travelers, not to talk of amateurs like us and our kids
Extra batteries for your camera.
Rain coats for kids (during the ferry ride/island hopping tour, we are likely to get wet) Extra sugar/coffee/coffeemate/tea bags, if you want to have late night teas. Do not forget Mosquito repellent !!! Plus coils or sprays and lotion for the bites. Actually, I don't think the mosquitos are the problem. It's biting flies on the beach. The itch is about 10 times worse than a mosquito bite. After 4 days, it was almost unbearable!!! Be warned!! |
