    The island hopping tour begins

Island hopping tour was organized by Juara Beach resort and it was a part of the resort package.
The star attraction of the tour was the Island hopping tour and that was about to begin in a few minutes time. Everybody was so excited to go on the tour that they were ready right in time, with all the snorkeling gear up on the sleeves. With so much of e mails circulating around to take care of the skin during the tour, ladies were pouring sun blocs all over the body. Joanne had provided packed lunch for all in disposable boxes and plenty of drinking water. Alley, our tour guide for today, was also ready, but surprisingly, he didn’t have his life jacket on. Probably he was very good swimmer. Hence he didn’t need it. He was our guide for the day and during our previous day interaction with him, we found him to be an excellent trainer, snorkeller and very caring person.

2nd Snorkeling site near Coral Island

The island hopping tour started at 1045 hrs and the speed boat was a smaller one, specially meant for Island hopping tour. Its seating capacity was around 10-15. The first stop was just 20 minutes from Juara beach, along the northern end of the island, on the eastern side. The depth would have been around 15-30 feet and water was crystal clear. The under water visibility was around 30 feet. Hence the sea bed was clearly visible. This was our first encounter with the beautiful corals. After few minutes into the sea, most of us had overcome the fear of water and we were snorkeling into South China Sea in groups. Alley made sure nobody had any problem.

The azure blue water at coral island

Another 30 minutes of sail brought us to the other side of the Coral island. This was the place where we were supposed to have our lunch. There was a small beach with perfect white sand, and clean blue water. Sea bed was clearly visible. The ferry pulled on the beach and we were asked to move on to the beach. The sun was overhead and scorching, sending everybody finding a shade to rest. The lunch box was distributed by Allay and everybody settled for the Rice and chicken meal under the shade of Palm trees.

    Hop the beaches or islands

    Panuba beach

A popular activity for visitors to the Tioman island is to island hop. Most resorts on the island offer a full-day island hopping tour which costs about RM80 and includes snorkling. Islands near TIoman include Tulai Coral Island and Jahat Coral Island.

Another activity is to beach hop. There are about 10 different beaches on Tioman island. Most are spread out along the west shoreline, with only Juara beach on the east shoreline. It is possible to walk from Tekek to Salang and cover about 5 beaches, including Monkey Bay. Those who wish to save time may want to hop from place to place on a sea taxi.

    Take the Island Hopping tour

    by lightknight2 Written Sep 25, 2003

On Tioman itself, there aren't so much nice beaches especially during low tides. There is one off shore island somewhere near Salang which was soooo perfect that i wanted to anchor myself into the sand and not move.

The island hopping tour will bring ou there... at about RM$80.
