Few kilometers away from Lembing town is the Sungai Kanau picnic area by the river beach. There are millions of pebbles for you to pick as souvenirs. It is very popular for the locals to have picnic and swimming in the shallow river. The cars can go right to the river bank. However, the beach is very wide and bare so it is exposed to scorching sun.

This trip costed us RM30 per person. Very worth the price you pay for this trip. Meet point was at Sungai Lembing and we took off on a 4WD, leaving Sungai Lembing at around 6.45am. We had to leave early as to see the rainbow at the waterfall, you have to reach there before 11am.
The four wheel journey took around 1 hour to reach. We sat at the back seat and you can see several beautiful sceneries as we crossed small streams and stopped by at this hill top for taking pictures.
We were stopped at this point where the four wheel couldnt go any further and we embarked our journey of hiking on foot which took us around 30-45 minutes to reach the waterfall. Right when we start our hiking, we had to cross cooling water of a stream to the other side. It was fun! :)
After that, we hiked on rocks especially slippery river rocks and muds.. We had to climbed across dead trunk trees on the ground. Sometimes we had to duck under the trunk trees to cross over. It was fun altogether.
When we reached the place, it was breathtakingly beautiful. We saw a rainbow at the waterfall. This waterfall is taller than the one we went to, Panching Waterfall. And much more reserved and undisturbed, which is why it is so special.
After a very cooling swim at the waterfall, the tour guide cooked us noodle in cup. he brought gas and cook right there right then! How cool is that!

It only costed us RM30 per person. The meet point was at Sungai Lembing and we took off on a 4WD which was included in the tour at around 6.45am and the 4WD drive took around 1 hour to reach the hiking point. We past thru streams and bumpy roads and great sceneries along the way.
We stopped at a point where the four wheel cant go any further and we started to go on foot. The guide leaded us. We walked past a stream which was waist high to the other side. The hiking begins. We walked on rocks especially slippery river rocks, muds and we had to climb across dead trunk trees a couple of times. Be careful on your footwear. Very important!
After hiking about 30-45 minutes, we reached the waterfall and it was gorgeous and it was worth all the walking. Once we reached the waterfall, we saw the rainbow and it was breathtaking. Right now, there arent so many visitors as of the inconvenient accessibility but because of this, it protects the undisturbed nature and beauty of the waterfall :)
The tour also provided us noddle in cup where they boiled it at the waterfall. How cool is that! :) Take a dip and the water is very cooling.. very very cooling indeed. Strenous but you will love the outcome which is the magnificient view.
I've been to Panching Waterfall which is nearby Sungai Lembing also but Rainbow Waterfall is taller and much more beautiful :)

The sunrise here attract lots of people visit this town during weekends. Avoid it as you can, try visit on weekdays for easier accommodation rental and less crowd.
You gotta climb the stairs all way long to the hill top before the golden scene present in front of you.
Reach the top before 7am. It take around 45 mins to the hill top. Of cause, if you're a weak and inactive person, just like me, might use up to 95 mins. Bring torch light coz no lighting available there.
Surely I'm dun hv the luck... the cloud was too thick, I miss the chance...

Sungai Lembing was one of the largest, longest and deepest subterranean tin mine in the world.
It was mined by the Pahang Consolidated Company Limited (PCCL) a British company from 1906 until 1986.
The miners of Sungai Lembing were not given any uniform but they were given a hard hat, a carbide lamp and a batter-operated lamp. It was hard works and I remember my dad coming home tired and his cloths were dark and dirty.

The Sungai Lembing Museum pay tribute to the town of Sungai Lembing's as Pahang's richest manufacturer of tin, before the drop in the price of that commodity in 1984.
The museum is located in the former residence of a mine manager - the building still retains its British architectural features.
The museum give you the history of the mines and the town during its glory days.
The underground tunnels are not stable now and no longer safe for visit. I guess I was considered lucky to born as a tin miner daugther and to visit this mines.
The deepest tunnel is the Myah Mines which measured 700 meters below ground The Taibeto mine is 500 meters and the distance between each tunnels is about 30 meters and the overal length of the tunnels is about 332 meters.

Sungai Lembing town is fresh and green with its lovely waterfall and local fruits. I am not bragging but the durian here is one of the best I have tasted especially from the jungle.
You can also go fishing in the river here and birdwatching.
