    Chinese Kampung lifestyle

Favorite thing: Chinese Kampung lifestyle is seen here alongside Malay-Muslims, both living together in wooden made houses, visitors can differentiate by looking at the 'red' thing on Chinese houses, Malay-Muslims houses mostly are on stilts and they don't have 'red' things on it.

    Bus stop

    Bus stop

Favorite thing: Bus stop is directly on the main street of Beruas, one and one main street. I saw passengers waiting inside the A/C-less bus in sweat, heated container like, a nostalgic scene of my childhood. Buses were products of 60s, old with noisy engines but still movable at reasonable speed.

A latex trading shop (rubber) Seng Yoon

    by l_joo Written Jun 6, 2006

Favorite thing: Visitors should notice a shop dealing with latex called Seng Yoon, a shop of such is rare in big cities, only in small town. This shop while I visit has nobody in it and they need not worry visitors stole the latex, completely open for photography, I could snapped freely. These latex are a type of milky sap of plants we called 'rubber tree', are later to be turned into rubber products such as car tyres, rubber gloves, etc, is one of Malaysia's main income.

    Visit the Museum

    by l_joo Updated Jun 6, 2006
    Sing and brother

Favorite thing: Beruas museum is so small, as small as the town itself but I still like it, sometimes the small the better. To visit this museum, drive is the best for me, I drove from Ipoh to Parit and then here in less than 2 hours, relax, looking around, taking photos, etc. Visitors need to do a simple register at the museum entrance, without charges.

    Museum

    by l_joo Written Jun 6, 2006

Favorite thing: Open: Monday - Saturday: 9.30am-5pm Closed on Sunday. Entrance free but need to register as considered formal visit. This museum is for tourists with deep interest in the history of Malaysia, not recommended for normal sight seeing tourists. This little town today has just a small number of restaurants and shops to offer visitors. For me, it is a relaxation trip to visit this kind of small community, so why not have a sensation with Beruas.

    A corner restaurant in Beruas

    A corner restaurant in Beruas

Favorite thing: Tourists with own private car can easily drive our PLUS (north-south highway), get yourself to the direction of Taiping, you should be able to see Beruas sign by the roadside. I went there as tourist to take photos somewhat with intention to do a bit of historical study regarding early history of Malaysia. Picture is an old restaurant run by local Chinese, the building is old enough with wooden chairs and tables of near antique age, cool.

    Kedai Runcit (grocery)

    Kedai Runcit (grocery)

Favorite thing: Kedai Runcit (grocery) is a small hut-like grocery store, located a little far out of 'town center', is on the main street too, I find it special and its isolated appearance.
