This is the most well-known Dim Sum restaurant in Ipoh. It has been frequented by loyal customers for a few decades and business is still going strong today.
Be sure to go there early as the restaurant is always packed with customers very early in the morning. Find yourself a comfortable table and a strategic place to "pursue" your Dim Sum.
Dim Sum are pushed out fresh from the kitchen and sold in trolley carts. Once you have ordered your Dim Sum, hand the card on your table to the waitress to mark the quantity. This is a card to record your Dim Sum order and for calculation of your bill.
Favorite Dish: You may try some of the Dim Sum classics like Har Gau (Prawn Dumplings), Siew Mai (Dumlings with meat filling) and Char Siew Pau (BBQ Meat Bun). Other famous Dim Sum are like Fish Balls, Yu Mai (Fish Meat Ball), Chee Cheong Fun (Glutinous Rice Rolls), and many many more... You will definitely have a gastronomical delight here !
Tasty mooncakes will be introduced during the mid-autumn festival. This restaurant is halal.

Ipoh Lor-Yauw is a fruit so famous in Ipoh. Once mention visitting Ipoh, you will be asked about this fruit. The price for each Ipoh Lor-Yauw is roughly RM6 each but depends on the grade and sizes. The fruit is sweet and sour in taste, if you ask me, I prefer the pale color one, I dislike the red meat because of the sour taste.

City centre looks like 70’s Kuala Lumpur. The main objective and mission to visit Ipoh for me is to stop over and eat the famous Taugeh Chicken Rice and if I arrive early in the morning, I will go to the Dim Sum restaurant, Foo San (photo).

Its said that F.M.S started business before Coliseum
Price of steak items is between rm10-40each
Favorite Dish: You must try for yourself.

It's air-conditioned, so you can eat comfortably. If you notice, there are a few recommendations here that are from Ipoh Garden. That's because I stay here when in Ipoh.
Favorite Dish: Lai Yau Fish (usually this style is used for prawns, but here they make the fish this way too).
Sorry the translation is not available 'cos I'm not good with food terms... Does "fried butter fish with curry leaves" help?

For a nicer environment to pamper yourself a bit - I've tried food at this restaurant in Ipoh Garden. I think it's called Bee Gaik Restaurant. It's neighbour is equally good. They've put in some effort into decorating the place and it looks nice. Upstairs they have photos of olden day Chinese people and antique furniture.
Favorite Dish: They recommended the pork ribs and their specialty beancurd 'siew yei tau fu'.

At night - there's Woolleys in Ipoh Garden. Lots of stalls. But I prefer the Selera Makan next to it (Tung Gu Ting).
Favorite Dish: Ice bubur cha-cha and ABC (Ais Batu Campur)!!!
It's a sweet desert.
Even if you don't know what ABC stands for, just ask for ABC...everyone in Malaysia knows what ABC is!

Favorite Dish: Dim Sum!!!
'char siew pau' (er, if you're not Muslim. 'Cos it's pork buns), huge fish balls, 'malai kou', egg tarts, and the variety of dim sum.
