When driving the North-South PLUS highway and approaching Ipoh from the north, after crossing the long river bridge, it will be a steep climb. Do not push the car too much but go at the recommended 80km per hour. Many older cars or buses have overheated up the climbs.
It is a winding stretch too and so stay on the faster lane to avoid laggind behind heavy trucks. When you go into the one way two lane tunnels, you are supposed to turn on your headlamps. Do not change lane while inside the tunnel.
After the tunnel, it is a steep down slope and this time use your brake often to slow down. The tolling booth is being moved because it is a frequent accident area by big trucks not being able to slow down. Also eventually, there will not be a toll stop for cars going directly from Penang to Kuala Lumpur. So the area is under road construction and again drive carefully especially in the rain or at night.

Ipoh parking is using coupons. You can buy these RM1.50 coupon booklet from mobile phone shops, mini market outlest.
It is troublesome to scratch the correct year, month, day, time by the hour and minute. Each time interval is 30 minutes and cost 30 sen each. So you need to scratch out 3 if you are parking for an hour and half.
And place clearly on your dashboard avoiding any overlapping. Otherwise, it will be all in vain and you may get a parking summon.

It is really a huge problem. So , do not carry your handbags if possible.use a purse and keep it in your pocket.if you really need to carry it, sling it properly around your neck. If someone trieds to snatch it, best is to just let them have it. It's better than getting injured....
