We had made a 6:30am start from KL on our way to Kampong Sungai Itek for our white water rafting adventure and Tanjumg Malim marked the halfway point so we made a stop for some breakfast.
This consisted of Roti Canai which is a dish composed of dough containing copious amounts of fat, egg, flour and water.
The mixture is kneaded, flattened, oiled and folded repeatedly. It is then flattened and cooked on a flat iron skillet with a lot of oil.
The ideal roti is flat, fluffy on the inside but crispy and flaky on the outside and it is served with lentil curry. The idea is to tear a small piece of the roti and then dip it in the curry.
I had the Roti Telur dish which is similar to Roti Canai but it has egg folded into the dough mixture before cooking it. Simply delicious!
This was washed down with some Teh Tarik. Teh is Indian or British and not Chinese tea. Tarik means pull and drag which is basically what a skilled vendor repeats many times over so that the tea and condensed milk blend to generate a frothy drink.
This restaurant is completely halal and does not serve alcohol. Not that I drink beer in the morning ;~)

It's a small restaurant with a young owner, mr. Yin Chun Kuep, great chef and great barman. He prepares very good chinese and italian receipes. I suggest his drinks and his beef food. There is a big car park and the the owner take care of his ambience.
perfect for parties and sweet dinners.
The owner is more studying italian cuisine.
Favorite Dish: 1) Eight spice roll: beef rolled with eight famous spices. Very tasty and unique.
2) French style salad: fish salad with vegetables. very fresh fish and receipe.
3) Risotto alla milanese: typical italian dish with rice and saffron. Try it!
4) Black papper fried dynasty noodels: great dish to try!
5) Expresso: the real italian espresso!
6) Celesta gelato: lime pudding.
7) Moka loca: great hot dessert.

There are a few ways to get to Kampong Sungai Itek which includes buses and taxis that leave regularly from KL's Puduraya bus station. Tanjung Malim marks about the halfway point from KL which makes it an ideal place to stop for rest and refreshments.
Our transport came as a part of a package deal, departing from our KL accommodation, with MM Adventures on the White Water Rafting @ Kampar River Tour.
Because there was only myself and my two teenage kids we travelled there in Mike's gold Mercedes. Michael is the owner of MM Adventures and will use either a mini van or his own Merc depending on the tour numbers.
