Sin Joo Hiang: Another Famous Chinese Traditional Confectionery

They are another very famous chinese bakery shop in TI. Sin Joo Hiang is generally called "tiger mark" here.

If you drop by during public holidays e.g. Chinese New Year, Labour Day, National Day etc, you'll see how famous they are. They whole shop is crowded and customers purchasing biscuits carton by carton.

What to buy: They are located at Jalan Mak Mandin, far from city centre. More than 30 min walk from Leaning Tower. If you are mobile, ask the locals fror directions to "tiger mark".

Try their "Empty Heong Pneah" instead of normal Heong Pneah. It is without any maltose filling and it suites my taste - i do not like sweet things. This empty biscuit will costs you about RM 2.50 per packet (of 15-20 pcs, not sure).

There are 2 types of their normal Heong Pneah, with sesame seeds (pink packets) or without (white packets). My mother likes the pink one. RM 5.50 for biggest packing (consisting 25 biscuits??). RM 3.50 for smallest packing (10 biscuits??).

They also distribute to other cities and stalls. If you are not mobile here, you could buy the biscuits at most of the street stalls. Of course, it won't be very fresh and more expensive.
