  • Located at Ayer Hitam, Kek Lok Si Temple or 'Temple of supreme bliss', is country largest Buddhist temple complex. Built between 1893 - 1905, the temple is one of the popular among Penang's tourists. The temple's gem is the Pagoda of Rama VI or 'Pagoda of Thousand Buddhas'. Another favourite by the locals is the turtle pond fondly called 'Liberation Pond'.

    Along the staircase pathway to the main entrance of the temple, there're some stores selling local handycrafts, clothes and accessories. If you're thinking of buying some souvenirs, don't forget to bargain and ask for 'big' discount.

    Ayer Hitam dam is located right next to Kek Lok Si, you can either drive or walk. Famous among joggers.
