When we were children, travelling through Malaysia and Borneo, in all towns, the stores would be owned by the Chinese, usually by the family and we always saw the student, son or daughter sitting in a corner studying or doing their homework. these kinds of stores are slowly disappearing and i was happy to see this one in Penang. The owner said he has had this store for more than forty years
It is curious, but I simultaneously adore and dislike the feeling of being in a place where I cannot understand anything at all of the local language. All these undecyphrable shop signs in Chinatown make you really feel like a foreigner and that sometimes the distance between people is more than physical.
