The 2nd Penang Bridge - Jambatan Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah is officially opened by the prime minister - Dato Seri Najib Razak on 1 March 2014. The bridge link Batu Kawan and the PLUS Highway in the mainland with Batu Maung in the island. It is a winding bridge with 24km in distance, the longest in Malaysia, another No.1 and another record.
For the 1st month free trail period, all motorists is given a free pass. The motorists need to pay the toll after 31st March. If the motorists enter the bridge from the PLUS Highway, he need to drive straight after he entered the bridge to the intergated toll system that allow him to pay the PLUS fee and the bridge ticket.
The speed limit on the bridge is set at 80km/hr. All motorists are not allowed to stop at the photogenic part for their photographs.

The Penang Bridge has three lanes on its either way since 2010. The speed limit is 80km/h, when the traffic on the bridge is heavy, I feel lucky if I can keep moving at above 40km/h. The photo was taken on a Sunday morning when the bridge has less traffic, I drove more than 90km/h. I think it would be a great experience for a traveller to get a chance to travel along the bridge to enjoy the scenery. The bridge was built by Korean during 1980ies.
After driving for about 13 km, when you enter the island road, please strictly obey the speed limit, this is the place where traffic police start to give speeding summon.

Use the Penang Bridge to drive to Penang Island from the Mainland Seberang Perai.
Toll fees of RM$7.00 for cars to be paid on the mainland, before heading to the island. There is no charge for leaving the island. Catch the view of the sea, fisherman boats, Pulau Jerajak, the coming 2nd Penang Bridge, the view of Penang Island and the bridge itself.. wonderful.. You are not allowed to stop your car in the Bridge unless the car get spoiled, dont have to worry too, help will come soon after you used the emergency phone installed on the bridge. Give a call...

The island is linked to the mainland by the Penang Bridge, which at 13.5 km long is the longest bridge in Asia. A toll of RM7 is collected at the Penang Bridge from all cars driving from the mainland.
