At one time, it was targeted to be the largest mall in Penang. Today Megamall is still a popular shopping center but at the higher levels, most of the shop lots are unoccupied.
There is cineplex and the famous Megalanes for bowling where major competitions at national and international level are regularly held. There is a major bookstore for English and Chinese books "Popular Bookstore" and Pacific Mall is the departmental store.
Megamall is located right after Penang Bridge, exiting on your left towards Butterworth. It is a major bus stop where Rapid Penang and other bus companies on Penang Mainland operate.
The newest shopping Mall in Seberang Jaya is now taken by Sunway Carnival Mall. Other major shopping malls are Carrefore and Tesco Extra.

Sunway Carnival Mall is the place to shop as the latest and newest mall in town.
There is a cineplex, departmental stores, cafes, fast food chains and meeting place for the locals.
The anchor tenants are Parkson and Giant Hypermarket.
