Less than half a kilometer south of Teluk Bahang town and overlooking the Butterfly Farm is the Teluk Bahang Dam which was completed in 1999.
Most of Penang Island water comes from the mainland from Sungai Muda in Kedah. So Teluk Bahang Dam besides other dams and reservoirs on the island like Air Itam Dam, Mt. Erskine's "Guillemard Reservoir". the Waterfalls reservoir in Botanical Garden and Bukit Dumbar at Jelutong are all precious. Mengkuang dam near Bukit Mertajam is another large dam on Penang Mainland.
PBAPP (Pihak Berkuasa Air Pulau Pinang) or previously known as Penang Water Authority manages the water resources of Penang State.
The Dragon Boat race has been held at this dam before. It is an easy stop on your way round Penang Island. The water level will give you an indication if it is wet or dry season in Penang.

When you are walking along the Teluk Bahang shaded jetty, look down on your left and right.
Besides the "long sharp nosed" fish, shoals of small fish fries and the crab crawling along the rope holding the fishermen's boats, you will see soon the jelly fish in propulsion.
There are white and brownish varieties but told that the purplish version is the one with the fatal sting. Some jelly fish varieties are popular Chinese dishes.
If you are tired looking down, look up and you will most likely see the resident "Brahminy Kites" eagles soaring in the sky. Apparently sea snakes are part of their diet. Not sure about jelly fish.

Beyond Batu Ferringhi is Teluk Bahang. Take a walk out to the boat jetties. There is one which is shaded while the other is an open jetty. Free ample parking at the entrance of shaded jetty. Just beware of the motorcycles of the fishermen on the jetty itself.
It is a nice walk along the jetty and see the surrounding sea, forested hills and fishermen boats. An incredible red sunset if you come later in the afternoon. At night, it is quite nice with the stars above but bring a torch light and do not fall overboard.

Favorite thing: Here is a local mid-size truck in green red color. This kind of vehicles are very commonly seen in Penang and elsewhere. The green body was wooden made and so when drive on bad roads, it generates all noices. For practical reason and cost saving, this is on thing very Penang.

Favorite thing: One more photo taken from the 'bustling' town area of Teluk Bahang. There's only one round about and there's the only place more inhabitants active in daily, just that but very interesting.
