Batu Caves is located about 13km North of Kuala Lumpur city centre. You can take Intrakota bus No 11D from the Central Market annexe or the Cityliner bus No 69 at Jalan Pudu to get there.
There is a new train line to Batu Caves. You can catch the train from KL Sentral ( Kuala Lumpur Central station). The train terminal is right next to Batu Caves ( need to walk 3 minutes). Costs 2 Ringgits. which is cheaper than the Bus (no 11) that costs 2.50 Ringgits. It is more comfortable by train. If you join a tour, they charge 70 Ringgits. For taxi, you have to haggle with them, expect to pay 40 ringgits or more one way.
I caught the bus number 11 from downtown KL (outside the Bangkok Bank). The price of the ticket is 2.50 Rand (approx-50pence). however the bus I found was slow mainly due to traffic and the fact the bus stop at a couple of villages. In total the journey lasted about 45 minutes. the lady conductor will shout out the batu stop. You cross the juntion (crazy freeway system-watch out when crossing). After you finished there are taxi touts outside, I was quoted 45 rand and the guy stated there are no more taxi's availible.dont be fooled-outside on the main road there are plenty of taxi's. I was offered a taxi for 25 rand which i accepted(even though i still knew this was too much - however I was too tired to haggle).

I had to add a picture of this monkey mother and baby... as I reflected on the 272 steps, I thought the baby had a much easier time making it to the top!
