Pasir Penambang at Kuala Selangor is one of the landing points for local fishermen along this river. The other famous area is Tanjung Karang.
Many town folk who want to have fresh fish without any preservatives drive all the way here at least twice a month with their ice-boxes ready.
Apart from fresh seafood, the shops in this area also sell dried seafood, such as fish maw, dried oysters, anchovies, and salted fish. The price may not be different from in town, but the quality and freshness is certainly better.
What to buy: Large prawns & fish are sold directly to the end-user and to wholesalers. I was told that you can buy fresh fish in the mornings, around 9 am and also in the afternoon, around 2pm. My mother has been to Tanjung Karang several times and each time she has returned home and fully stocked the freezer.
What to pay: Ask around and you will get a good price.

On Sundays, there are table stalls like a flea market mainly in the basement and on all the different floors of Amcorp Mall. There are at least 6 stalls selling used and mint stamps. A great stop for philatelic collectors.
Amcorp Mall is well connected with the LRT station, 10 minutes away. However be prepared with an umbrella if it rains as there is no covered roof between the Mall and the Station.
Fun place for browsing and serious buying for stamp collectors.

The area around here is famous for durians. They are all grown in and around the area.
What to buy: Durians, of course!
During the hot season, durians, mangosteen and langsat and pulasan may be found here. I noticed many fruit trees along the road on my way to the Sg Congkak Forest Reserve.
What to pay: RM5-6 per kilo for durian kampung
RM9-11 per kilo for durian D24 or "Cat" durian or durian kunyit
Can be as cheap as 3 fruits per RM10 but these are not that great.
