The Masjid Jamek Rembau is the main mosque for the district of Rembau. Located right in the heart of Rembau town, it has a small blue dome and a minaret with a large prayer hall. As a relatively newly buid mosque, architecturally, the design of the mosque is just like the typical modern design of a mosque commonly found elsewhere.

Rembau town is located in the middle of Rembau district. It is a relatively small old town, with just few row of mostly wooden shop houses. However, being the administrative town for the district, the town has few public amenities such as a district office, hospital, police station, bus station, schools and shops. About 1km from the town centre is the Rembau train station - a small train station that would reminds you of the old colonial days.
On Saturday mornings, a lively and brisk open air market will be held at the centre of the town. This is when the locals go about buying the freshest items from the farm in a relax and convivial small town atmosphere.

Located at the entrance of Rembau town, the Merbau trunk replica illustrates the origin of the name Rembau and the locals culture. On top of the base of the trunk are replicas of a "rebana" (a traditional drum commonly used on local gatherings/ celebrations), a "tepak sirih" (a small tray to keep betel leaves and its condiments) and some local food on top of trays. The rebana signify the locals' strict adherence to the "Adat Perpatih" (a matrilineal social system whereby women have an important role in the society); the tepak sirih is a common welcoming symbol and traditional hospitality while the local food signify the sustenance the local folks get from the land.
