Sand

Need space?

I fixed my camera on timer, couldn't make it to my posse at the back there in time even though I gave a run for it in the soft hot sand. We were at the Buai's Beach Resort's beach.

Notice the island at the back/horizon? That's Pulau Kapas.

Getting boring with the life around Marang? why not take a boat trip to Kapas Island? Marang has been well known for the spot of taking tourist to the Kapas Island. There are a lot of boats providing this kind of services. They all are normally the local style small wooden boat, which can accommodate about 15-20 people. The time to get to the island is about 30min-45min. The cost for each person will be around RM20. This also depend on how many people per trip, and they will demand higher price if there is only a few people per trip. There is also some speed boat to take you there, but i personally think that is not a very good idea as it is a bit dangerous because the speed boat is a small-size boat and it cost higher compare to the local boat. Why not take the bigger and slower wooden boat, experience and enjoy yourself on the boat?

Talk about the island, actually is has a whiter sandy beach if compare to the beach in Marang. The island is TOTALLY out of city life. Absolutely no high building or houses. The island is only meant for tourist. No one actually live there. So you can enjoy yourself there, relaxing under the coconut tree, go for a jungle tracking, water activities, etc... There's also some coral beneath the sea, so you can do snorkeling as well...
The accommodation in Kapas Island is super cheap. you can get a room/chalet for only RM15 (USD 4.00) per night during the off peal season. So, don't need to rush, just take your time there...

Candat Sotong

...hm.... they called it Candat Sotong in Malay, which is actually fishing for squid, not octopus ok? ^_^ actually Candat Sotong is one source income of the local people. And the season for Candat-ing Sotong will be around August - October. To Candat Sotong, they will take a boat out to the open sea, normally in the evening and fish for the squid at night time as most of the squid will come surface mostly at night (my assumption).
So if u like to experience how they actually fish for squid, you can arrange a trip with the local boat owner or ask around the people in the jetty to take you for Candat Sotong. I never been to Candat Sotong before, but as far as i can tell, it is FUN, and surely you will get yourself dirty (black) because of the squid!

If you fancy fishing a lot, then you can come over here and fish. There are a lot of spots where you can actually do fishing, such as the Marang bridge on the Marang River, on any of the jetty for the boat to Kapas Island, etc. Beside that, you can also fish for the river crab at night near to the Sungai Kerak bridge.
