    Need space?

I fixed my camera on timer, couldn't make it to my posse at the back there in time even though I gave a run for it in the soft hot sand. We were at the Buai's Beach Resort's beach.

Notice the island at the back/horizon? That's Pulau Kapas.

Getting boring with the life around Marang? why not take a boat trip to Kapas Island? Marang has been well known for the spot of taking tourist to the Kapas Island. There are a lot of boats providing this kind of services. They all are normally the local style small wooden boat, which can accommodate about 15-20 people. The time to get to the island is about 30min-45min. The cost for each person will be around RM20. This also depend on how many people per trip, and they will demand higher price if there is only a few people per trip. There is also some speed boat to take you there, but i personally think that is not a very good idea as it is a bit dangerous because the speed boat is a small-size boat and it cost higher compare to the local boat. Why not take the bigger and slower wooden boat, experience and enjoy yourself on the boat?

Talk about the island, actually is has a whiter sandy beach if compare to the beach in Marang. The island is TOTALLY out of city life. Absolutely no high building or houses. The island is only meant for tourist. No one actually live there. So you can enjoy yourself there, relaxing under the coconut tree, go for a jungle tracking, water activities, etc... There's also some coral beneath the sea, so you can do snorkeling as well...
The accommodation in Kapas Island is super cheap. you can get a room/chalet for only RM15 (USD 4.00) per night during the off peal season. So, don't need to rush, just take your time there...

Marang Nightlife

there is no, or VERY LIMITED night activity you can expect from Marang. So far i can tell is that you can go for Candat Sotong (see more in Candat Sotong tip) if you're coming around Aug-Oct. Otherwise, just go to the beach and start counting the stars while listening to the beat of the wave from the sea.... or you can have your 'own activity' on the beach!!!

Just relax and listen to the crickets cricking - OR, you might want to try Candat Sotong or fishing for squid. Ask from your hotel the nearest jetty - they usually have candat sotong organised for tourist at the jetty.

Marang Warnings and Dangers

  • PS_Lee81's Profile Photo

    by PS_Lee81 Written Nov 28, 2005

This warning is very useful especially before year 1993. What i'm saying is that the local people staying on the lagoon beach used to treat the beach as their own public toilet!!!!! don't be surprise, or angry, or feeling funny, because that is their local custom!!!
But now, since they all already moved away to another place, the lagoon beach seem to be emptied, and will be no more land mines anymore, or maybe a few from those who can't find toilet in the middle of the night while at the beach! hahaha......
