Pulau Perhentian Besar Nightlife

There isn't much of anything in the way of nightlife on Pulau Perhentian Besar but at Tuna Bay Island Resort there is a nice bar called Tuna Club. The bar serves many alcoholic drinks without regard to Islamic law, including Tiger Beer, and a diverse variety of mixed drinks such as daiquiris, margaritas, pina coladas, tequila sunrise, Singapore slings, and even Long Island iced tea, among several others. There is seating at the bar, or nearby tables with views of the sea (both options pictured here). Very clean, comfortable setting, good place to get together with new friends and down a few.

Not a lot of nightlife on Besar (see home made cocktails tips). Internet access is very expensive (about $5 per hour iirc). Bizarrely though, loads of places on Besar have wireless internet, and PIR allow open access to it (I saw a couple of people surfing on the beach without a board). Those that charge havent set up a proper mechanism and dont seem to realise that once they have given you the network key, you could use it again without them knowing. So, if you were so inclined, you could pay once then just use it from your room for free.

We had the most incredible night swim with phosphorescence in the water at tuna bay. We were there in April. Even without the illuminating biological lightshow a night swim in the calm water here is a real treat.

Dress Code: Bathing suit. Leave you towel by the volley ball net so you know where you've left it!

It was sheer coincidence that we met some acquaintances whom invited us to some firecrackers, candles and lanterns party. It was the 8th lunar month that allowed such childhood fun to be brought all the way to Perhentian island.

Of course, the mess of candles and crackers fun on the beach was cleared by our acquaintances as we have turned in early for the night.

There are limited nightlife activities around Perhentian Besar. By 9pm, the surrounding looks quiet.Those who have a heart for drinking and music partying could opt for Perhentian Kecil.

Dress Code: As casual as possible.

Party animals may be disappointed as there are no pubs/discos on the island. However, this is why I love this island that much. It's so silent and pure.

Why not just enjoy the nature? Go star gazing on the beach, it's romantic.

Nighttime is pretty quiet on the island, not much activities, maybe because there's more local tourist who came with families.

anyway, all of us were flat out after a whole day of snorkelling, so we ended sleeping early..

Don't expect a vibrant nightlife on this island. Do expect quiet times. The closest to a conventional nightlife is to grab a beer (yes, you can STILL find some here) and sit on the beach and listen to the waves. Its very intoxicating !
