We ordered for dinner items like Seafood fried rice, fish & chips, Pizza. We waited and waited and waited and finally lost all our patience. The children were getting impatient, but there is nothing much we could do. It takes a long time for them to serve food, specially during dinner time. So consider this when you are ordering food in Perhentian.
The restaurant was quiet crowded. We were told, it will take around 30 mts. We waited for more than hour and finally, when vthe food arrived, they mixed up the orders. Our food was served to somebody else and we got something else.
So we decided not to have our dinner here next time.

The restaurant at New Cocohut resort, close to Tuna Bay, is located partly over water, and when it gets dark only candles light the tables. It is maybe even a bit too dark, but that kind of creates the excitement factor that one can’t actually see properly what one is eating ;). Anyway, it is very atmospheric to dine by the water edge.
They have an evening barbecue and you can choose from chicken, prawns, fish and the sauce you want, and the barbecue also includes rice, coleslaw and watermelon. The food is good and reasonably priced. Especially the king fish was delicious. Even though the food was nice, we only ate here once as the service is excruciatingly slow and unprofessional. Don’t get me wrong, they are not rude, but nothing just seems to happen and there is a limit to what we’re willing to wait even though we’re on holiday. We ended up going to the counter ourselves to pay the bill, because it seemed impossible to attract the waiting staff’s attention.

Tuna Bay Island Resort's restaurant is the best on the beach with spacious interior, high ceiling, fantastic open-side dining with great views of the sea. The menu is a nice mix of asian and western cuisines, with some Malay, Thai and Chinese options balanced by pastas, sandwiches and fresh salads, and of course the barbecued fish, prawns, chicken or beef. Overall, ingredients are fresh and good quality, although service is often slow as the restaurant is short-staffed but that is not untypical in island settings. Definitely the most popular place to have dinner on the beach, nice atmosphere, clean, comfortable.
Favorite Dish: Pictured here, I perform a tremendous feat of drinking 3 different beverages at one time! Lemon iced tea, lime juice and chocolate frappe! Yum. 2nd pic shows the Prawns with Nestum, which was pretty tasty. 3rd pic shows the very unorthodox "Greek" salad (has lettuce in it and substitutes blue cheese for feta -- never in Hellas), and the garlic toast while Rita gets ready for the tom yam soup.

Nia Cafe is immediately adjacent to Tuna Bay Island Resort and is a good alternative to Tuna Bay's much pricier fare. The cheap plastic tables and chairs are right on the sandy beach and a bit closer to the sea... Try the tom yam soup, medium spicy, it's delicious!

Although I had my food everytime the meals are served, I still have some side orders in this restaurant. They served nice set meals. If you like spagetti, sandwiches, tom yam, ice cream..... I never miss these in three days. If you plan to have your lunch/ dinner, take your seat early as sometimes the restaurant is full of people. The waiter is friendly and you may ask him to take your order.

This is my favorite lunch stop after snorkeling trip! Located right on the beach, with coconut trees around, it is just a perfect place to take a break after the snorkeling session.
Sit down with your feet in the sand and enjoy the food while looking out to the sea. The seabreeze here is amazing!
Favorite Dish: I love the fried rice here and also the long beans fried in belacan. Simple local dishes with a flavor!
Some dishes can be quite spicy, so be sure to let them know if you want them to make it less spicy.

Apart from the Coral View Resort, we also ate at :
i) Chinese restaurant next to Reef resort. Nice seafood BBQ, but be warned to check your bill when it comes. We were nearly overcharged for the lobster.
ii) Watercolours restaurant - V friendly service, and great BBQ food! The best for dinner time, and breakfast looked good too although I didn't eat here for brekkie
iii) Mama's place - OK for both western and local food. I liked the ambience, very family oriented. Nice to relax on their lounge and my fave hangout for breakfast.
Favorite Dish: From Watercolours restaurant - go for the BBQ Baramundi - my friends were raving about it!

Nice ambience for Abdul's restaurant by seaside. Recommend to bring your favorite instant cafes so to enjoy your coffees in the morning or teas. 1pot of hot water costs RM 0.50 to 1.00. Instant porridge also does well with their hot water.
Sandwiches/toasts, veg dishes and OJ are good. Not their fried rice though...

Along the beach on Perhentian Besar, there are many accommodation and most of them have a restaurant or cafe for you to pop by and have your meal. There are also a few small shops where you can have your meals too. There are no fancy restaurants for dine dining.
If you are on the popular and convenient full-board package, they usually include food at the resort's restaurant.
