When we arrived at the Jetty, we had to check-in at the Laguna Redang Jetty Counter. During check-in, they need our name and confirmation number. Then, they would take care of our luggage and we just waited for the departure.
For Laguna Redang Island Resort, they have the following boat schedules:
1st Trip: Merang Jetty --> Resort : 9:30 am ; Resort --> Merang Jetty : 9:00 am
2nd Trip: Merang Jetty --> Resort : 12:00 pm ; Resort --> Merang Jetty : 11:00 am
The cost of the return ferry is included in our Hotel Package. If you did not buy a hotel package, they allow you to ride their ferry for RM50 per person/way. Just pay at their jetty counter.
Laguna Redang Resort has a comfortable air-conditioning ferry can seat up to 110 passengers.
It depends what hotel package you have, the type of ferry varies depending on your hotel package.
The ferry ride will take between 45 minutes to 1 hour.
I have also checked with other operators to find out alternative way to visit the Island in most cost effective way. Unfortunately, they don't have budget ferry for backpacker or self-traveler for day trip. If you have a group, you can hire a boat between RM 350 to RM 400 for a day to visit the Island.
If you are visiting other islands like Perhentian Besar or Kecil, you can buy the hotel package in here too!

Merang Jetty is the place where you take a ferry to Redang Island. Merang is about 30KM away from Kuala Terengganu Airport. It takes about 40 minutes between the Airport to/from Merang Jetty. There is no public bus in between this route. There are two ways you can reach the Jetty:
1) Arrange your transport with your hotel or resorts. For example, Laguna Redang Resort will charge RM36 return per person between the Airport to Merang Jetty as available based on their assigned schedules.
2) Just buy a taxis coupon at the Airport Taxi Counter. It will cost RM50 per car with maximum 4 passengers.
I think it is worth taking the taxi if you have more than 3 persons in your group. As you can have the flexibility to go somewhere else after the Radang trip instead of straight back to the Airport. The taxi will cost RM25 between the Airport to downtown Kuala Terengganu. There are public buses on the main road from Merang to downtown Kuala Terengganu.

Most visitors to Redang island purchase packages that include boat transfer to the island.
If you choose to go independently, you may hitch a ride on one of the resorts' boats (from MYR40) or take Redang Teratai Boat Service (9:30am or 2pm). These run from the string of jetties along the river in Merang.

I bought a free & easy flight package, available from Singapore-based tour agencies, including flights, 2 nights hotel stay (deluxe garden room) in Berjaya Redang Resort, 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners and 1 snorkelling session for S$528 (including taxes and surcharges but not including a MYR5 for Marine Park entry fee).
Berjaya Air flies direct from Singapore Seletar Airport (not to be confused with Singapore Changi Airport) to Pulau Redang Airport once a day in the afternoon, every Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun. The journey takes 1.5 hours each way on board a Dash-7 plane, served by 2 stewardesses. The return flight is on the same days except that it is in the morning.
There are coaches transporting passengers between Pulau Redang Airport and the hotel.

There are a number of large company coach services leaving from the quieter and less intimidating Kuala Lumpur Putra bus station, opposite PWTC (easily reached by taking the Star LRT to PWTC station or a KTM Komuter train to Putra station), to Kuala Terengganu Express Bus Station and vice versa. It costs from MYR25.70 per person one way (7 hours, 10am and 10pm).
The main bus station of Kuala Terengganu is at Jalan Masjid Abidin. It serves as a terminal for all local buses. Some long-distance buses arrive there as well but most use the express bus station in the north of town.

To get to Pulau Redang, you will have to take a ferry from the jetty in Kuala Terengganu. Most resorts and chalets in Redang will include the ferry ride in their package so all you have to do is go the jetty and pick up your boarding pass.
The ferry ride will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes depending on the weather and sea condition. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the ocean and the time will fly by a lot faster!! :o)
