Most visitors to Redang island purchase packages that include boat transfer to the island.
If you choose to go independently, you may hitch a ride on one of the resorts' boats (from MYR40) or take Redang Teratai Boat Service (9:30am or 2pm). These run from the string of jetties along the river in Merang.

I bought a free & easy flight package, available from Singapore-based tour agencies, including flights, 2 nights hotel stay (deluxe garden room) in Berjaya Redang Resort, 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners and 1 snorkelling session for S$528 (including taxes and surcharges but not including a MYR5 for Marine Park entry fee).
Berjaya Air flies direct from Singapore Seletar Airport (not to be confused with Singapore Changi Airport) to Pulau Redang Airport once a day in the afternoon, every Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun. The journey takes 1.5 hours each way on board a Dash-7 plane, served by 2 stewardesses. The return flight is on the same days except that it is in the morning.
There are coaches transporting passengers between Pulau Redang Airport and the hotel.

There are a number of large company coach services leaving from the quieter and less intimidating Kuala Lumpur Putra bus station, opposite PWTC (easily reached by taking the Star LRT to PWTC station or a KTM Komuter train to Putra station), to Kuala Terengganu Express Bus Station and vice versa. It costs from MYR25.70 per person one way (7 hours, 10am and 10pm).
The main bus station of Kuala Terengganu is at Jalan Masjid Abidin. It serves as a terminal for all local buses. Some long-distance buses arrive there as well but most use the express bus station in the north of town.

To get to Pulau Redang, you will have to take a ferry from the jetty in Kuala Terengganu. Most resorts and chalets in Redang will include the ferry ride in their package so all you have to do is go the jetty and pick up your boarding pass.
The ferry ride will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes depending on the weather and sea condition. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the ocean and the time will fly by a lot faster!! :o)
