Once your arrived at Merang Jetty, our "exclusive resort passenger boat" will be awaiting for you. It takes only a 45-minute scenic boat ride to Laguna Redang Island Resort. You'll still be fresh enough to take your first plunge in the crystal clear water of Redang!

Disclaimer: I HAVE NOT DONE THIS; BUT SHARING INFO I GATHERED FROM FRIENDS WHO DID
It is a more than 10 hours journey (about 11 hours covering 590kms) as you make your way via coach from Singapore to Kuala Trengganu in Trengganu, Malaysia. You'll reach Kuala Trengganu very early in the morning and will have to wait a few hours for your ferry to cross the sea to get to Pulau Redang from Merang Jetty.
There is only one coach serving this sector: Transnasional (no known website) operating out of Lavender Street Bus Station, off Kallang Bahru, arriving at Stesyen Bas Ekspres Tanjung, Kuala Trengganu. Daily services. You can purchase Transnasional return coach tickets from their ticket office and departure point at Lavender Street Bus Station. Only "economy" class coach tickets are available for their 3 daily services.Time leaving Singapore: 9.00am, 8.00pm & 9.00pm.
Price of ticket: adult: S$51.90; child: S$25.90.

Transnational operate 2 trips daily, 8 pm and 9 pm. I bought ticket at S$36 per way from SIN to Kuala Terengganu. It took about 10 hours. There are 2 types of coach, economic and business. Try to get on an business class coach that has about 27 seats, it gives you more leg space. The economic class has about 33 seats. Heard that they are of the same price.

unless you're going for snorkelling trips, the best transportation one is going to have is one's own two feet! a morning walk to catch the sunrise is quite a good feeling to experience. the air is superbly fresh, the roar of the waves will gently wake you up and you can take a look at the other resorts on the island. you can also go up this little cliff to have a bird eye's view of the island. during other times of the day, the powdery soft sand makes walking be not a chore but an enjoyment. :D

The boat trip to Pulau Redang starts at a jetty near to Merang and it takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to reach Pulau Redang. The trip can be quite bumpy due to the strong current so be prepared, especially if you have motion sickness.

The gateway to Redang is Kuala Terengganu. Both Malaysia Airlines(www.malaysiaairlines.com) and AirAsia(www.airasia.com) operate daily flights there. The transfer from Sultan Mahmud Airport to the coastal village of Tanjung Merang takes about 30 minutes.

The phone booking and pay through ATM in Singapore is now not available as the local agency of Transnasional (a Malaysian coach company) has ceased operations (at this time of writing). However, you can still get tickets at the Kallang Bahru terminal, a 10min walk from Lavender MRT Station. The company could be engaging another local agency in the future. You can probably check online.
PS: I had actually purchase my tickets using ATM transactions previously. But the local agency 'disappeared' and I couldn't get my tickets after payment. Hence, it may not be wise to purchase tickets with ATM. I have since made a police report.

If you are travelling from S'pore, you can actually get much cheaper tickets from Larkin bus interchange, Johor Bahru. Of course, there is always the inconvience of travelling across the causeway.
Other than Transnasional and Konsortium (you find them in S'pore as well), you can look for Cepat Express and Adik Beradik at Larkin bus interchange.
Transnasional charges RM34 for a single way trip between Johor Bahru and Kuala Terengganu.

If you can't get any bus to Kuala Terengganu from Singapore, try asking for buses to Kota Bahru. The bus to Kota Bahru passes Kuala Terengganu. You make a request for the bus to stop at the bus terminal at Kuala Terengganu. Check with the coach comapny before purchasing tickets.

Most resorts provide their own water transport services to the island. However, the boats and ferries do not operate at frequent timing. Most of them leave Redang early in the morning. Hence, you don't really get to stay long on the island on the last day.
Moreover, our bus transport (to Singapore) departed at night. Hence, we had a whole day at Kuala Terengganu. Thus, it is a good idea to find out from your accomodation what time the boats/ferries leaves Redang. You may need to plan for such time gap.
