The coastline of Terengganu is stunning and inviting. But always beware that swimming or wading can be dangerous and may result in tragic drowning.

You can see that there are hardly anyone swimming in many areas of high waves or where there are dangerous underwater tow and strong under current.

Even wading in shallow lagoons may have unknown dangers lurking.

So better safe than sorry. Check with well-informed locals and fishermen if you are interested in active swimming, boating and sea activities.

Negotiating a narrow &
slippery trail, Malaysia

Some portions of the trails to the waterfalls or other attractions may be narrow and slippery (especially after rain), so do be very careful. Wear shoes with very good grip and perferbly waterproof to a certain extent.

Strong waves off Terengganu,

During the monsoon season between November to Feburary, the rain can get very heavy and there will be lots of flooding. The sea and coast areas off Terengganu can get very violent too. It is best to avoid this season if you want to visit Terengganu.

Because Terengganu is still a very strong Islamic state of Malaysia, please do not wear clothings that are too revealing (especially ladies) except in tourist attractions such as the beaches of Pulau Redang Island or when you are at your hotel's swimming pool.

I'm stuck!!!

Loose & dry sands will not hold any grip, even thought you are driving a 4WD.

Myself and friends (include my younger brother) were at Kuala Dungun and we see one nice cave at the far end of the beach. We're quite lazy to walk there to the cave, so I tried to drive to there to explore it. Just few seconds after I am hitting the loose sand, I am stuck!!

So, we use all those fallen coconut branches, dry coconuts and anything can prevent the tires from digging in deep. After a nice 20 mins, we were out from the beach. Son of the beach!!

Clear warning signs

Most of the beaches have no lifeguards save for the resort beaches. So be careful when you swim. Its much safer to wade in water but then if you enounter sea denizens like jellyfish or stonefish, no one will administer first aid to you.
