Pasar Malam: Pasar Malam

by l_joo

Pasar Malam is Malay word Night Market, pronounce Paasaar Maalaam, please do not pronounce Payser Maylem. Pasar Malam is local peoples' way of nightlife since long time ago. The way of Pasar Malam is to have a place at night selling all sorts of daily products including fish, meat, vegetables, cattles, etc. Pasar Malam is open to anyone free entrance and the best is anyone can join in to sell whatever they have. You tourists want to join to sell your old backpack, boots etc, this is the place.Pasar Malam is not so popular among modern trendy youngsters probably it look too old fashion and cheap, not suitbale to parade LV Gucci Prada Dior Armani etc. Pasar Malam is however still exist in most of Malaysia. Tourists should learn how to get to Pasar Malam, a good place to take photos etc. Visiting Pasar Malam is to experience the way of life of Malaysia at night. I suggest tourists to look...

Karaoke and Bar: Insomnia ?

by gnh

Karaoke parlours are very popular activities in Malaysia, especially in the towns and cities. There aren't actually many other nice things to do. Some night clubs, some pubs, some massage parlours ( though not so blatant as in Thailand ). Even though Malaysia is mostly Islamic, much is tolerated, for the sake of the mighty dollar ! Anything goes, though no nudity allowed !Malaysia isn't THAT liberal !Better to dress modestly at all times. If you see outrageous dressing, better not envy nor try to copy them ! They are usually youngsters who don't really seem to know wise from foolish .

Kuching Waterfront: A Romantic Stroll by the River in Kuching

by Wild_Orchid

~Careless Whispers~The Kuching Waterfront in the State of Sarawak is an example of a very good redevelopment scheme. What was once an unkempt and muddy riverbank lined with abandoned godowns has been transformed into a pleasant area for the townfolk (and tourists) to relax and have a leisurely stroll through. The best time to visit the waterfront is at night when the place is a hive of activity, and there are open-air pubs to drink at and watch the boats and people go by. The lights along the waterfront add a festive feel. But don’t go too late though. It seems most Kuchingites go to bed rather early because when I took a stroll at 11.00pm, the place was almost deserted...apart from young lovers holding hands and whispering sweet nothing's to each other. Kuching is a very relaxed place. Put on your blue jeans and t-shirt and you'll fit right in. For girls, if you put on a dress with a...

Murni: do as the locals do

by bluepigsinthesky

A typical pastime of Malaysians is to hang out about 1 a.m. to catch a bite and some "teh-tarik". You can do this at any mamak stall, my favorite being the one at ss2, Petaling Jaya. Mamak is Malay-Indian, so, there's definetly a very intresting mix of the two cultures blending into one. "teh-tarik" is tea that is pulled from one cup to another, ingredients includes tea*of course*, and condensed milk. You can order it either cold or hot, with sugar or without. This is just an intresting experience to do as the locals would do, instead of the customary habit of going clubbing. very casual, but be decent, because Malaysia's primary religion is Islam, and vulgarity is not appreciated by officials.

Nightspot in KL: From Dusk till Dawn

by julietkilledme

There are a few clubbing area within the city or 45mins drive away from the city. Don't forget to visit Jalan Ramli if you are looking into club hopping or simply just hanging out at cafe with your friends while doing some people watching. Its a place where youngsters & yuppies would hangout. My friends & I would usually arrange to meet up at KL since we are coming from different States & country for some partying. Bangsar (half hour away from city) is a little clubbing town of its own, with pubs & clubs that plays different genre of music with cafes & eatery everywhere as they spread out throughout the town block by block. So take your take to browse around before deciding on where to club or simply just hop from one place to another then! There really isn't any particular dress code in all these area. So just go... ermmm perhaps leave your slippers in your hotel room instead then.
