A 5.5 inch scorpion in your

Since Bako is in the jungle, there are plenty of wildlife to see. This also includes monster mosquitoes, scorpions and snakes.
When staying in the cabins, make sure you check your shoes to make sure the only thing going in them are your feet.
Also, when walking the trails, watch where you put your hands as you climb. Snakes abound, along with drop offs that could really ruin your day.
Walk quietly along the paths. I noticed as noisy tourists came down the trail, the animals were gone. Many people came back to the camp area complaining that they didn't see anything. Could be that they were too loud as they walked along.

Sure it's off the beaten path; it's up in the treetops. Not for acrophobics, the canopy walk in the Taman Negara rainforest is awesome.

Only 4 persons are permitted on each stretch, and the whole enterprise is shut down during inclement weather.

Do it!

Taman Negara
Taman Negara - Malaysia's Premier Park. The park was established for the sole purpose of protecting and preserving the flora and fauna indigenous to the area Located within the park is Peninsular Malaysia's highest mountain, Gunang Tahan.

A range of comfortable accommodation is provided by the Taman Negara Resort at the Park Headquarters at Kuala Tahan. The restaurant outlets there also ensure that you do not go hungry amidst nature's wilderness. With so much to see and do, a trip to Taman Negara is must on your itinerary.

    Taman Negara
Taman Negara simply means "National Park" in Malay. This is the largest park in the country and enviroment heaven. It hosts one among the oldest pristine rain forests on earth where elusive endangered species can roam free and try to avoid extinction.
Chances to see wildlife are scarce, especially near the accessible parts of the park.
Although it's not the only option, we chose to visit the park through a deal. Package included transportation, accommodation, meals and jungle guided treks and tours.
The trip started from KL. About 3 hours by bus, leaving from Crowne Plaza Mutiara hotel, to Kuala Tembeling. From here a 3-hours longboat ride reaches the park headquarters in Kuala Tahan.
This trip is not a total adventure but rather a luxurious and safe way to check firsthand the beautiful rain forest. But there are things to be aware of.
The boat ride went through a massive downpour that lasted for over one hour. Despite these boats have a sort of a roof, we got soaked. It's not advisable to bring along large suitcases but rather bags and backpacks. One should keep in mind that the destination is the jungle, not a high-heels place, despite accommodation is provided at nice chalets with air conditioning.
The park offers scheduled walks, treks and boat rides. Take a schedule brochure and meet your guide for the selected event. We had night jungle walks, day hikes, the canopy walk and a boat ride to Lata Berkoh falls/rapids.

The Perhentian Islands are about an hour ferry from the port of Kota Baru. Not very touristy on the small island. Check out Long Beach (small island)

    Kuching
The capital of Sarawak is one of my favorite cities in Malaysia with colorful markets, a beautiful new river promenade, and the Sarawak National Museum, one of the most fascinating museums in the world, depicting the culture and way of life of the jungle tribes of Borneo.

The longest river of Peninsular Malaysia is this Pahang river. If you drive or go by bus from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan of the east coast, you can surely notice a big river all along the road and you might want to take a rest to come down to have a look to take some beautiful photos or perhaps you can bring your tackles but I don't encourage swimming.

The mountian range behind the Damai Beach Resort offers lots of interesting walking trails, around four o'clock you may come across monkeys playing in the forest canopies. If you are reasonably fit try climbing Mount Santubong 8000ft it takes about one and a half hours to reach the summit. Some of the climbing is up vertical rope ladders and take plenty of water.

    Trek to a waterfall...
The waterfalls at Lumbong about 50km from Johor Bahru are worth a visit if you are heading up the west coast of the peninsula. There are also quite a few treks that you can take overnight, and I have heard that these are quite good fun.
