Most people travel for the food, shopping, beaches, night life etc., remember that Malaysia was the largest tin mine producer in the world before 1970s? The central of Malaysia's tin industry is in Perak State. Ipoh, population: 600 thousand, is the capital of Perak State and the third largest city in Malaysia. Located in the Kinta Valley, Ipoh was a center for most tin mining activities in Malaysia, and Malaysia was the largest producer of tin in the world before 1970s. In fact it was estimated that the ground below Ipoh city is still full of tin ore, but obviously it is no longer feasible to dig with 600,000 people living on top of it. I visited 'New Lahad Tin Mine' in Ipoh Malaysia before it was closed down. It was one of the deepest tin mines in South East Asia. Leave a Comment |
There are other watersports to practice, but since there were no winds what so ever when we visited, it sure wasn't easy to windsurf. Since the resort closes a couple of month every year because of the weather, I guess it can be more 'surfer-friendly' weather another time of the year. |
I believe this is a form of BIRD OF PARADISE but whatever it is, they are fairly common. |

Be prepared to see many Temples and the Monks who study there. Malaysia is officially a Muslim country, however. The Muslim influence is seen in the larger city areas like KL. As far as we could tell, there does not seem to be any conflict between the Buddhists and Muslims, Christianity is not very large, certainly not out in the country. |
I have endeavoured to keep you in the country to see the true beauty of this marvelous country. Alas, it is not that I have run out of pictures, I am just getting bitten by all the mosquitoes in the jungle ~ but one last one for now. A suitable picture for you to view as you consider picking up that phone, placing a call to your travel agent and booking a flight to this part of the world. You won't be sorry. Thanks for spending the time to have a visit in MAGICAL MALAYSIA SELAMAT DATANG, ALOHA, SAYONARA, BUMBYE |
Shopping here is not the same as Hong Kong or Singapore. This is for real, many little vendors all the way around the block, with hope in their hearts and not a great deal more. Try to find a reason to buy something when you walk by. Let them overcharge you a little, won't hurt. |
