gunung nuang

by ahch0ng

gunung nuang( 1493m) highest in selangor statelocation- hulu langat, selangor, malaysiaGunung Nuang, famous mountain for Malaysia trekkers and also is a "training centre" for those who planing to challenge the G.Tahan & G.Kinabalu. Therefore the trek is rather eroded and some of the campsite like a rubbish site. From car park needs to take 2 hours to reach first campsite, Lolo camp. This is the best and bigger campsite for trekker to set their tents because there can take bath and swimming in the river beside the campsite. After 2 hour hard trek from Lolo camp there is another campsite can fit 5 to 10 tents at the middle of the G.Nuang, it call Pacat camp. Trekker like to take a rest at this campsite before continuous their 2 hour hard trek to the summit. The view from the peak is not so good if compare with other mountains because it is surrounding by many trees but the satisfaction is...

gunung ledang--- mount ophir

by ahch0ng

gunung ledang (1276m) highest in johor statelocation - sagil, muar, johor, malaysiaThe locals always considered this mountain as one of Malaysia's most Legendary mountain. The Legend tells about a beautiful princess escape from marrying a man she doesn?t love to Pulau Besar. With sadness in her heart and tears in her eyes, she left the land of her birth and come to this remote island in the straits of Malacca. Later, she made her way to Gunung Ledang. Ever since, folks have come to know her as Puteri Gunung Ledang (the Princessof Mount Ophir/ Gunung Ledang). Some of the people still believe that Puteri Gunung Ledang is still alive, and there are people who claim that they've seen the Puteri.

Taman Negara

by ant1606

Taman Negara simply means "National Park" in Malay. This is the largest park in the country and enviroment heaven. It hosts one among the oldest pristine rain forests on earth where elusive endangered species can roam free and try to avoid extinction.Chances to see wildlife are scarce, especially near the accessible parts of the park.Although it's not the only option, we chose to visit the park through a deal. Package included transportation, accommodation, meals and jungle guided treks and tours. The trip started from KL. About 3 hours by bus, leaving from Crowne Plaza Mutiara hotel, to Kuala Tembeling. From here a 3-hours longboat ride reaches the park headquarters in Kuala Tahan. This trip is not a total adventure but rather a luxurious and safe way to check firsthand the beautiful rain forest. But there are things to be aware of.The boat ride went through a massive downpour that lasted...

Drive to the top of the mountain

by kyoub

Gunung Raya Mountain is is the tallest mountain on Langkawi. The government ministers have meeting there regularly, if they are not using the bungalows , then the road is open. You can drive on a nice paved roads with a lot of bends and turns until you reach 881 meters above sea level. From the top you can see terrific views out over the island and sea..

Island hopping

by kyoub

Tasik Dayang Bunting or the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden is Langkawi’s second largest island, Pulau Dayang Bunting. The lake, surrounded on all sides by tall, forested slopes, is separated from the sea by a natural wall of limestone, and its waters are believed to help barren women conceive. There are many baby monkeys on this island so I wonder if they drink the water? This is a nice day trip along with a few other islands in the area.

Enjoy the beach

by kyoub

There is a boat that leaves the Awana Hotel in Langkawai, several times a day to take hotel guests to this island. It has powdery white sand, blue green waters, and a lot of trees for shade.Do some snorkelling or swimming--or simply relax in the sun. Watch the hermit crabs. That is what my hubby did.

Visit Iban Long houses in Sarawak

by Janemei

On a recent visit to Sebuyau past Sebagan, we stopped by a few of the Iban (native) longhouses. The residents in these longhouses were very welcoming and all the kids posed for photos with us. The climb up to this longhouse is something different on it's own. The steps are carved from a log and it's almost a confidence course reaching the house. Each of these houses play host to 30 over families where each family occupies a 'room'. There's even a tuck shop amongst one of these rooms but this is only available in the newer styled and modern longhouses. The people and children were the definite highlights and if you do go, please bring sweets and gifts for them as it gives them a treat to have something from overseas.

Camped by some riverside (Pedu, Kedah)

by muddybok

We pitch our camps at one of the small rivers off Pedu main lake. According to my friend, we could have just entered into Thailand border. Whatever it is, no immigration officers are there to stamp our passport. We don't ever bring the passport with us in the first place. We basically just camp on the riverbed, trap some small animal & fishes. These guys are very creative of using natural resources for basic needs. Some sort of survival skills in jungle kind of thing.
