Kampung New Zealand id an OTBP

by l_joo

Kampung New Zealand is definitely an Off The Beaten Path in Malaysia. This is a village in Pahang state but given an exotic name of New Zealand Village. Any of you from New Zealand might want to try this village to get to know somebody who knows were your relatives or ancestors. This is for the Kiwis, I have been there 3 times to ask a local guy why they adopt such name and he told me it was the governemet from NZ who help them develope the village where it was previously called Sungai Ketam. What an OTBP in Malaysia.

The longest river of Peninsular Malaysia

by l_joo

The longest river of Peninsular Malaysia is this Pahang river. If you drive or go by bus from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan of the east coast, you can surely notice a big river all along the road and you might want to take a rest to come down to have a look to take some beautiful photos or perhaps you can bring your tackles but I don't encourage swimming.

Johor national park

by Julia_ZZ

On May 1, 2004, 12 of us set off to Johor national park. It is only 2h coach away from Singapore. The view is fantastic.. We drove the 4-wheel dirve jeep up the country road, rode a boad deep into the jungle, got sucked by leeches on our trekking, swam in the lake with fishes...

Tip Photo
Setiu of Terengganu

by l_joo

Setiu of Terengganu is one of the most beautiful road ever built in Peninsular. The road is parellel with the coastline which means we are driving just beside the coast for more than hundred kms. The road has probably one car in every 5 minutes, that's why you can even sleep on the road to take photos and it was clean. Scenery needless to say was one of the best.

Tip Photo
Nenasi of Pahang

by l_joo

Nenasi of Pahang is faraway from urban areas in a place where you can see fishing village with kids staring at visitors. The sea shore is as what you see in the photo. Villagers are friendly, they allow us to snap as many photos as we like, they even gave us their address for us to send photos to them. Beautiful Nenasi.

Tip Photo
Penarik of Terenganu

by l_joo

Penarik of Terenganu is a place completely away from tourists. If you want to avoid staring at each other, Penarik is the ideal place for you in Terenganu state. Penarik is at the seaside with beautiful beach, long beach with fishing boats, coconuts and villagers. No urban look, completely Penarik.

Tip Photo
Lake Chini

by l_joo

Lake Chini is one of my favourite short vacation spot. The place is in the middle of big jungle at least 50kms away from any towns, surrounded only by nature. There has 2 or 3 guesthouses and Rajan Jones is my choice. RJ charge a mere RM18 per day including (everything). You only have to pay RM18 to enjoy a day of foods, stay and sighetseeing, etc.

Tip Photo
Maran of Pahang

by l_joo

Maran of Pahang is definitely a OTBP location to be visited. This is not Maran town but is the surroundings of Maran in the Pahang River area. Drive along the river Pahang to capture some of the breathtaking views of old villages and nature sceneries. The road is long, quiet, no cars. A place for absolute photography.

Tip Photo
Tasik Temenggur

by l_joo

Tasik Temenggur is one of the best yet beautiful place to visit while you are in Malaysia. The location is far up the north of Peninsular in between Thailand border and the state of Perak. Near the town Gerik of Hulu Perak. The area is nature and old, old until it has the museum of the oldest human skeleton found in Perak Man dated back to nearly 11000 years. Tasik Temenggur is a lake in Hulu Perak and if you drive from the East coast acrossing the West coast, this Tasik Temenggur is a must.

Tip Photo
Pekan of Pahang

by l_joo

Pekan of Pahang is a very beautiful town but surprisingly less visited. The town from what I know has only 2 public accommodation available. I stayed at the town only guesthouse which is a big beautiful longhouse of wood made. They charge only RM50. for the room where 4 of us share. The place is absolute tranquil, clean and well maintain. The location is approximately 50km south of Kuantan, also a seaside town with museum and old constructions. Beautiful.
