Bring something you can carry....
Flip flops/ sandals are always good atire as you'll no doubt be taking them off in many places, or trainers for the places where you need to cover up a little more....... Dont bring too much, but things that cover shoulders and knee's will mean that local people will show you a lot more respect!! If you wear a mini skirt and skimpy top in town, they will think of you as a tart.....
Tampons are so hard to find if you go off the beaten trail in Malaysia. If you stick to touristy places you'll be fine, no problems but if you go into places such as the centre of the country, ie, near Temerloh, you could have a problem finding them, as Asian women dont tend to use them....
Digital Camera... and rechargable bateries... you can write all your pictures to disk in many places throughout the country so dont worry about running out of memory space... Leave a Comment

Shell beach by kyoub Pack light because some of the smaller planes have a very limited weight allowance. You will also need a small day pack to take along on your day trips.
Light weight cotton is your best bet for the hot humid weather here. A long pair of pants for the jungle, capris, shorts, tops, swimsuit, sandals, and a pair of comfy walking shoes will take you most anywhere.
If you have a favorite brand or special needs it is best to take it with you.
Take a very big memory stick or lots of film. Also extra batteries.
Don't forget the sunscreen and the mosquito repellent. The sun is very hot and you will encounter some biting insects, if you get out of the city.. Leave a Comment

Casual, comfortable clothing and shoes that is suitable for walking, hiking, jungle-trekking. Umbrella and Raincoat would be of great help if travel during rainy season.
Always bring some insect repellent when you're doing jungle-trekking.
Apply insects repellent before you start with your day in the jungle, before the insects such as mosquitoes spoil your day. :-)

by lmkluque Always use the least amount of luggage possible no matter how long you plan to stay.
Bring clothes of a cool, light weight material, it is very hot and humid here. Malaysia is predominately a Muslim country and you, especially women, should dress modestly.
Bring the basic items for your personal needs as you would on any trip, but if you forget something like Imodium--as I did--you can easily get it from a local pharmacy--as I did--and relieve the misery. Leave a Comment

Langkawi Beach by worm_star A backpack is practical for those who travel around a lot. Besides that, anything would do! ;)
For clothing, since Malaysia is a warm and humid country, i recommend cotton, light and loose fabric. Preferably not polyester nor leather (except for shoes! =>) High-cut boot is not recomended, sneakers/sandals are the most comfortable to get around. Don't worry, there're so many beautiful sarongs and batik sundresses you can get here!
Sunblock!!! =)
You can find all necessary photo equipment in the cities especially, but if you are planning else where, you might face some difficulties. However, almost all convenient stores nationwide sell films! ;)
It's important for you to bring mosquito repellent if you are planning to camp outdoor.
A hat or sunglasses would come in handy in hot days. Leave a Comment

by Salinas On the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia the rainy seasons is between the month of April to May and October to November. Rain tends to occur between November to February on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, on western Sarawak, and north-eastern Sabah. With an average temperature between 21 to 32 degrees celcius, its pleasurable to visit Malaysia all year round. The hot humid weather in this country permits cotton and casual clothings all year round. In rural areas and when visiting worshipping buildings, decent dressings advisable -- no shorts, skimpy dresses or garments. For island hopping, I reckon you will not missed packing your swimming gear. Pack sweaters or jackets if you are visiting the highlands of Genting, Fraser's Hill or Cameron Highlands as the weather here could get a lil cool in the evening and early morning. If you are moving around alot, a back pack is good. If staying in 1 place, a rolling suitecase is good.
lightwieght clothes, rain poncho and umbrella for rain and to keep the sun off. Sandles or shoes that come off easy. Long pants.
None special. Carry those small packages of Kleenex, as restrunts and food stalls do not have napkins.
none special. Anything for a camera can be bought overthere. Leave a Comment
