 | Malaysia Packing Lists | Tips 51 - 60 of 65 | | Popular Packing Lists | Miscellaneous Packing Lists Tips | All Tips (65) Shoes are really cheap in Malaysia especially fashion/seasonal women shoes. Especially slippers, sandals and open toe heels. So if you have average sized feet 6-7, you should leave your shoes at home because you'll be stocking up here in Malaysia. But 8 sized feet will find that they will get some massive reduction on the shoes for their size because it is less popular in malaysia. Leave a Comment

Something really light will do. Swimming suits, sun block, and a pair of sunglasses! Leave a Comment

Take an umbrella and a raincoat with you if you go to Sarawak. Don't do as I done. I left my new raincoat to longhouse and of course just then during a jungle walk was a very heavy downpour and my clothes stayed wet all the way back home.

A backpack will come in useful and is the easiest way to carry your things.
Malaysia is pretty hot and humid all year round, so light weight clothes are a must. Also, take at least one pair of long trousers for trekking in the jungle (to keep the leeches at bay!) A pair of walking shoes/boots as well as a pair of 'Teva's' will also be handy, and a good set of clothes for nights out.
Depending on the time of year and area you go to, anti-malarials may be neccesary. It is also a good idea to take some re-hydration sachets with you.
Kuala Lumpur is another great place to buy camera equipment, so you will have no problems here. But near enough anywhere else you will also almost certainly no be able to find what you need - stock up before you leave......
If you have a feeling that you would like to sleep out, under the stars, then take a mosquito net.....!
A water bottle and torch will definately come in handy. Leave a Comment

Anything that is comfortable for you will work.
Cotten -- the weather is hot. An umbrella is handy. Comfortable shoes. Be respectful of local people's religion -- shorts are fine in resort areas -- cover shoulders (women) and dress fairly modestly in town.
MOSQUITO REPELLANT. This is an area of malaria -- we did not take malaria medication but wore mosquito repellant all the time (instead of cologne or perfume). I went as far as purchasing a strong insect repellant (with mild aroma) from a Australia website -- we wanted to be certaini to be safe -- and we were.
If you are in a hotel, there is no problem.
Sand flies on beaches -- not many people went into the water. I understand there is great snorkeling on some outer islands.
Plug adapters -- sunglasses -- Leave a Comment
